1/4 snap on THLF72

I was helping a friend do an EGR delete on his 2010 Dodge Cummins, used my 1/4 drive snap on for most of it, alot of bolts that i should have been using a 3/8, especially the EGR cooler bolts. Just what kind of force can these ratchets take, as most of the time, when the bolt would break and "snap" loose, the sound made me think i broke the ratchet, but it held up fine. Im considering using my 1/4 tools alot more now if I know they can hold up good, and theyre also easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

what kind of force have you guys put on your 1/4 drive tools without fail?

I think snapon claims they are rated for 90foot lbs with the 72teeth models.

Im pretty rough on mine. Use it all day working on medium duty diesels.Ive done starters,egr valves and coolers, injectors all kinda stuff with it its holding up well.

What are the 32 tooth SO 1/4' ratchets rated to? I have a TM90B that I just got from my grandfather that I was wondering what it could take

not sure but I have two snap on ones that are holding up fine after many years of use. I also havea Britool one that is only now after 30 years of use showing signs of wear. I got by for years with only 1/4 inch and 1/2 tools so the 1/4 in stuff saw lots of use that should really have been done with 3/8 drive. But my 1/4 in drive stuff has probably regularly seen torques of 80 ftlb

I've hung my 150-160lb self off a Cornwell 1/4" ratchet without issue before (for handle length reasons it was the only tool that would fit in the space).

I use my tlf72 all the time for engine work where other guys are using 3/8 stuff. My SO 1/4 drive sockets go up to 15mm and working mostly with Toyota my tlf72 has cope regularly with 14mm head M10 bolts on Toyota 1HZ starter motors and alternator mounts.

I even made a 19mm 1/4 socket for one job, that's on an M12 fastener where space is an issue
