So I'm looking for ideas to consolidate my 1/4" drive tools into one place. I'm looking for a "grab-n-go" sorta solution. I really like the case for this tekton set: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RCYX504/?tag=atomicindus08-20
Because it has an open compartment for accessories, but I don't really want to spend $45 for just a plastic case. Can I get these blow molded cases anywhere online? Also pics of other peoples storage of 1/4" sockets and ratchets are welcome

IDK where to buy them...but the Tekton looks good and I KNOW the Gearwrench one is good and goes to 15mm and 9/16.

The Snap on one ***** big time. I put all my SO sockets in the GW case to carry around.

eBay is one place to check, empty cases show up there quite often.

I have a GW set and I like it, but I had to remove the lid to fit it in my box, and other brand ratchets don't seem to fit all that well, least not my TL72 and my craftsman RP

I'm building a set in a old Sears metal box with cut down socket rails, still not sure I like how it's fitting, but I think it will work ok, will post pics tomarrow

I kinda wanted to get a blow molded box thats empty inside and see if I can use some spray foam and some sorta wood perhaps to make my own blow molded case.

The Armstrong locking flex by far gets the most use. I actually hate the little gear wrench 81011 because the socket retention is so strong that I have to pry the sockets off with a screwdriver. I used to use it for the thin profile head, but its identical to the Armstrong.

In my tool box at work. I just have the sockets on rails. Then the ratchet, extensions and screwdriver handle in a bag.
Canvas Bag

That way when i need it i can just grab it and go and if i need something else like i can just throw it in the bag too. Works great and takes up alot less room then the cases shown.

Sears used to sell blow molded cases that could be modified as you saw fit.

I don't know if these are the cases that Fedwrench is referring to or not, but Sears still sells them in a 17" and a 22" size, called "truck toolbox". I thought they used to carry a smaller size (like about 12" ??) but I may be mistaken as there are only the 17" ($7) and the 22" ($9) that I could find on the Sears website. Very nice boxes for the price.

They are "empty" on the inside so you could create and fit whatever style of organizer you wanted for your 1/4" drive sockets. Also, they used to made in USA.

I use those boxes a lot. There's three sizes that I know of. The smallest ones just barely fit in a shallow drawer and are great for small kits like plastic interior pry bars or seal drivers. The bigger ones I use for pullers and stuff. The largest is nice for under the back seat of my truck. It also fits my case spreader nicely.

They're tough plastic and made in USA too.

Skip blowmolded. Waste of the skin on my fingers getting sockets in and out of their spots.

Just get a nice set and expand your socket collection at the same time.
