1.5T Al "racing" jack $58 at HD

Not gonna bother w the HD clearance thread as it seems to be all penny deals.

Why is this a potentially hot deal? Because the lowest I've ever seen it at HF w coupon is $59.99, and HD establishes a presence in much smaller markets than HF. I'm guessing a lot of people have a local HD but no HF. So, here you get HF prices at HD (I believe all these little 1.5T jacks to be identical, but I could be wrong).

I find these very handy for roadside use. They're light enough to easily toss into a truck box or even the back of an SUV, but afford greater stability, ease of positioning, and arguably safety during use than a bottle jack.

HD's website says product weight is 30.3 lbs!?!? Walmart's website says the cheap suitcase jack I have in my trunk only weighs 20.28 lbs. Anyone shed some light on this for me?

Edit: HF says their Aluminum jack is 31.4lbs.

you are typically only lifting half of a car with this, so it covers quite a few vehicles out there. But the aluminum jacks are typically used by people who race their cars and need to bring a jack to the track and change tires there, so it is nice to have a lighter jack to move around. (plus i suppose cars used for racing are typically lighter...)

But it is very rare for a expensive jack to fail due to poor construction/design. The HF and comparable cheap aluminum jacks are notorious for failing. I personally would rather depend on my own stupidity for a jack failure, I don't need the Chinese helping with the frequency of that problem.

I have the 1.5t HF jack. I lifted the front right side of my 2500hd with it and this jack caught the truck when my 3 ton Allied jack stand imploded. I clearly misused it and it held up. Use it properly and I'd trust it.

That's not really saying much. Let's say they sold 100.000 of them and 5000 of them worked that isn't a good rate. Like I said. I wanted a little one for doing little things and looked up the 1.5 hf sells and reviews where all over. Nothing constant. For every good review there was a bad one. Not a chance I'm willing to take.

I have the HF 1.5 ton, after about the 5th use, it started making popping sound, my car is only 4000lbs and I only lift one corner.
