1 Circuit Per Box?

I have been trying to find the portion of the NEC that might mandate no more than 1 circuit in a single electrical box. Here is my situation:
In my garage I have lights on a "new" circuit from my new subpanel. The outside light is currently on the original circuit from the house. Can I put the switches in the same box by the door as this would make the most sense logically? If not I will rewire the light circuit onto the same circuit as the garage lights. I can imagine there may be a portion of the code that doesn't allow more than 1 circuit per box, but I would like to find it.

What you're asking is can you have more than one circuit in a box if they originate from different panels??.

I am just asking if I can run more than 1 ligthing circuit into a switch box to be controlled by separate switches. 1 circuit will be 3-way if that matters.

In many houses the kitchen light box will have 3 or 4 circuits running through it.

I'm not sure where in the NEC its allowed but its a common practice. I think there are some issues with the grounded conductor from seperate systems but not sure that applies to your case. They don't want one to share neutrals if the hots come from different systems.

Lets say you are in a office, has many lights in a dropped ceiling. One switch turns on 10 lights in a row, the next switch turns another set of 10 lights in a row and so on. The lights in one row are on one breaker, next row another breaker etc.

Yeah, that is the example I thought of also. Ok, wiring it so it is logical!
