Does such an animal exist ? I would really like it to be 6"-12".

If not, what kind of steel are steel roll pins made of ? (Obviously "spring steel" whatever that really is.)

The biggest I see is 5/8" X 4". What's the application. Post a photo and we might be able to help with a solution

So if you're looking at a roll pin I'm going to assume you require interference fit, so my suggestion is have an oversize piece of stock turned to the required dimension and provision for circlips or R clips as your means of 'just in case' retention. If weight is an issue bore the pin to your preferred wall thickness.

If on the other hand you don't need interference fit, a piece of 1" heavy wall tube with a couple of holes at either end to accommodate R clips for retention would probably work.

More info on the application would be helpful.

The application is "blind", so any retainers won't work.

From a bit of research, "spring steel" is usually at the high end of the 1000 series ("mild steel" is usually 1018 or 1020), like maybe 1080. Various heat treatments also add to the "springiness" !

So if the application is blind, then would a thread not be more appropriate to facilitate removal at some point in the later life cycle of said widget? Is there rotation around the pin?
