This is a quick rundown of the warranty experience I had this week with Gearwrench.
I purchased a metric ball hex bit socket set from Advance Auto last week & while changing an oil pan gasket, I rounded off the 5mm socket. Advance Auto does not sell the individual sockets where I live, nor did they have another complete set, so my only real option was returning all of them. I decided to try & give Gearwrench a call to see how the warranty worked with them.
I called the 800 number, and the service rep listened to what happened & initially told me that I had to send the socket in & they would send a replacement. I told her that I would not pay more money for them to warranty something & if she couldnt do anything, then I would just return the whole set to Advance Auto. She then asked me again for the item #, my name, and my address & said a new one would be shipped out within a week. This was Wednesday (11th) about 4:15pm.....this morning (13th) at 9:00am I heard a truck in the driveway. UPS delivered my replacement socket
41 hours from phone call to new socket in hand. Not too bad!
