Bought a Stanley 42-347 mahogany/brass 48" level with a plastic case at a garage sale for $8. Only problem was that all the vials were dry, except one, which had a huge bubble and the liquid was clear, so, basically unusable. I looked online and replacement vials were available for between $3-4 each (and this level takes 6).

I saw on a few websites that this level has a history of vials "drying up" and "turning clear" without any abuse. Sent an email to Stanley customer service and they replied 2 days later that they were sending me a new set of vials. While I waited I hit the glass windows and rubber seals with some Simple Green and they cleaned right up.

Popped them in, 5 minutes later, brand new level! Thanks Stanley!

+2 for Stanley. Excuse the long post but I think it'll be well worth reading.

My dad And I had 4 ratchets to warranty. A 1/4, 3/8 a 1/2 and a 3/8 indexible like what's available at harbor freight. Well they don't make the indexible anymore. The other three were warrantied no problem. But for the indexible was replaced with a 3/8 Blackhawk RH with the thumb wheel. My dad wasn't happy with that. So he get a hold of a manager. Long story shortened. We ended up with all that plus a slim Blackhawk 3/8 with a beautiful handle, another Stanley 1/2 and 2 Blackhawk rotator handle ratchets. One in 1/4 and one in 3/8. In the end he was still upset the indexible wasn't replaced, but was satisfied with the extent they went to make him happy. Stanley stands behind their stuff 100% no questions asked and possibly has the best customer service around.

Bonus they don't require to send the old one in. So you can keep the broken one for a future custom tool. Also they send you "professional" series of their ratchets which aren't sold at Walmart and are noticeably different and noticeably better.
