I've seen 3/4" but not 1".
I've always kept the sizes I use in a drawer and the rarely/never used ones in a bucket:dunno:

Only seen factory cases for 1" drive.

You could string them with cable, rope, etc.

About 35 years ago saw a DIY job - #10 deck screws through a strip of 3/4" (maybe 5/8") plywood into pegs from 1" dowel.

Armstrong had 3/4 clips, never saw 1". A 2x4 with dowel pegs may be the best bet for a rail of sorts. A 1" board may work ok if used in a drawer and not really moved.

Thanks guys, looks like I may have to build it myself,I need it to keep the sockets from moving in my tool box mounted on my Landcruiser, the roads(tracks) around are not the best.

Deck screws into 1 dowels was sitting the bottom drawer of a roller cab that probably never ever moved.

1/4" threaded rod through 2"x and 1" dowels might do the job. If they are deep sockets, you'll probably want something more to keep them contained.

Maybe buy a package of small rare earth magnets, and epoxy the magnets into something to hold the sockets, maybe with some thin rubber on top.

Get a chunk of thin angle iron, drill holes, put stubs of 1" diameter steel rod there and weld the bottom of the stub to the angle through the holes. It'll be strong, stiff and heavy, but so are the sockets.

Along the lines of your idea, I wonder if a piece of 3/4" EMT would fit thru the square drive openings? Then you could put a hairpin cotter pin at each end and sort by size in a long gang along the bar. I feel certain 1/2" EMT conduit would work but I don't feel like it would be rigid enough. If its mainly for transport then a few minutes taking it apart wouldn't be bad vs. constant need where you'd want easy access to individual sizes.

For the larger ones which are stepped down on the drive end they would nest even tighter.

Also doubling as a curl bar :bounce:
