1” jumbo sockets

I find myself needing some 2” plus sockets. I have piece meal so far but am looking for a set of sockets from 2-1/16 up to at least 2-1/2 or maybe 3”

I see some taiwan / chinese “jumbo” sets but all are in 3/4 drive

I see the grey pneumatic 9016 set but $1000-1200.00

Harbor freight has 1” set for 220.00

Anything in between ? I dont really need the ratchet and extensions. Impact would be nice but not sure if I want to spend the extra for occasional use.

Saw this 1" drive socket set impact, but sockets are not huge, only up to 2". You may find something else there

Pricey, just one impact socket 3 1/2 is $250. I suppose I would just buy individual sockets as needed.

I own the HF Pittsburgh set. It appears identical to the set offered at Northern tool.
It is a bit crudely made, the ratchet sounds "rough" but I suspect some grease inside might quiet it down. The spring loaded ball that is supposed to retain the sockets extensions, etc. is a joke, the sockets will fall off under their own weight. Not the end of the world but a nuisance if you intend to use often.
I've yet to have need for any of it so cannot comment on performance but hasten to mention that I know for a fact I do not possess the strength to break any of these.
Some HF tools have surprised me. For example a long 1/2" breaker bar I've used for loosening the crankshaft dampener bolts on BMW engines. These are notoriously tight, ~300lb/ft. If working on an engine stand I need to turn the engine bottom up to lower the CG so as not to tip the whole thing over when loosening. Anyway, the last two I did were using this HF breaker bar as my impact decided to be a wuss. I was using a long piece of pipe for leverage and was SURE I would break it, so much so that I had covered the business end with a heavy blanket hoping it would catch any shrapnel. Well, it bent like a banana but broke the bolt free and returned to it's original shape. If the 1/2" version took that there is no way in hell I could damage one twice it's size.
By no means are these industrial grade but are suitable for occasional use. A couple of top quality sockets alone could eclipse the price of this entire set.

HF 1" set *****. Coworker owned it, broke most of them breaking bolts free. First he bought a real ratchet (wright) to replace the junk one in the set, but then the sockets started cracking. Keep buying them individualy or buy the GP set, they're the most economical you're going to find unless you find some used.

I would be interested to hear what it took to break those 1'' sockets. I have the HF 3/4'' drive chrome sockets in metric and sae and they have held up to both a 1200 flb impact as well as my 280 lb self yanking on a 4 foot 3/4'' drive breaker bar.

Wright 48 ratchet and occasionaly a cheater pipe. I haven't had an issue with HF's 3/4 sockets even using a similar setup but I think the 1" are thinner in the corners.

Can you get away with 3/4" drive stuff up to 2 1/2"? Most of the cheap stuff doesn't like to go over 2" and I'm not sure why. I find myself using stuff over 2" once in a while at work (gold mine mill/ crusher). Stepping up to the bigger 1" drive stuff is big money.

I have the GP 3/4" shallow set up to 2 1/2". It's a nice set and has held up well though is getting pretty expensive from when I bought them. Vevor has a Chinese 3/4" set that looks like a GP knock off people seem to be happy with.

Having bought mine in a weak moment I now realize I'll never use them. Somehow the 1 3/4" socket has gone missing(never a lender or borrower be) so if you can live without that one and stand 70# worth of freight charges I might be able to make you a really good price.
