1 person brake bleeder

Do you think this tool will work well? I don't have any air in the system but I want to change out the fluid.

I don't think that tool will work well. It looks cheap.

I would buy the Motive or Mitty Vac.

Probably better off just hi-jacking the neighbor kid for 10 minutes to push the pedal.

What? No neighbor kid around? You can also get check valve brake bleeder screws for 1 person bleeding right there on the truck. handy and they are always ready to use. Just crack one open, slip a hose over the ****** and into your waste bucket, and go push the pedal. tighten bleeder, Move to the next. check fluid level, repeat.

Years ago I had a home made set-up. I had a clothes hanger wire wraped up around the top of a small coke bottle to form a hook to hang from the bottom of the car. I had a rubber hose that I had secured to the neck of the bottle and into the bottom of the bottle. The hose had about 12 inches of line coming out of the bottle. I kept the bottle about 1/2 full of brake fluid. I would crack the bleeder slightly put the hose on and slowly pump the brake slowly. As you make the downstroke the air and old fluid will come out into the bottle and on the upstroke the fluid in the bottle keeps it from sucking air on the way up. I used that method for years in a dealership as it was hard to get help sometimes. kept the floor clean as well

I've never been a fan of vacuum bleeders. I prefer pressure bleeders.

When I use mity vac it just pulls alot of bubbles from the breeder threads, I don't think it's a problem but this will probably be the same

I have been using that bleeder for 4+ years. It was at harbor freight several years back and I decided to give it a try... could always take it back if it didn't work. It works very well.

I have the motive and it really is simple to use. I used to hate bleeding brakes before it was too much of a chore, but now i don't mind so much that i flush the system once a year now.

I've got the Motive too. It's great if you're alone, but still a major PITA vs just having a helper. I only use it if the wife isn't around. The Motive eats up a lot of fluid too as you need to have enough in its large pressurized bottle (aka glorified garden sprayer).

I use speed bleeders - one way valves made bleeding brakes easy. I'd never done it before, but it seemed like a simple way to do it.

i use the motive and i like it. the black label line of bleeders has the aluminum cap/adapter which is nice.

considered the speed bleeders in the past before i got the motive, didn't seem to like the idea as much for some reason. guess i didn't want to be working the pedals

I also recommend the Mighty Vac. Yes it may seem cheap, but it works all the time. Also good to pump out motor oil and ****** fluid to check the color in volume (and a better smell test with ATF fluid when in volume).

It is also a good way to remove ****** fluid if you put too much in. Very easy to clean and the 1/4 inch I.D. hose is easy to get at any hardware store if you need long lengths.

I got mine at the flea market for a dollar from a vendor that clears out estates, basements, attics ect., but am now willing to pay the asking retail when and if it needs replacement.

I had a friend that had one of those years ago, for some reason I just remember a big mess with the adapter, leaks etc.
are the adapters good enough these days?

I use a home make pressure style (motive) bleeder all the time on a road race car. Real easy to make for independent MCs w/ screw on lids. Super easy to bleed or change the fluid. I put a longish length of tubing on the caliper and just barely crack the bleeder. Lets me watch what's coming out the caliper.

32 ounce Gatorade bottle
Hole drilled in lid.
Lenth of hose long enough to see from the mirrors or while looking out of car.
Make sure that hose fits tight in hole.
Fill bottle 1/4 with fluid.
Connect hose to bleeder and pump away.

Best bleeding system I have ever used. I bleed brakes all alone everytime.

i use a catch can i made and let it gravity drip....
actually works 100% of the time. longest took me 10 minutes of dripping to bleed but i was putting tools away so didn't matter!
by the way i the only person in my shop.

Got the Phoenix System a few years back, worked fine on every car/truck I own except the old Chevy. Gotta do that one the old fashioned way. Don't know why.
