I have two services to my house. It used to have an in-laws apartment, therefore the two services. I always thought they were 100 Amp services, I finally checked tonight and low and behold they're 200 Amp. :bounce: So now I'm going to be able to run the 100 Amps Sub instead of the 60 Amp like I thought I would have to.

Now the question. In the Main, I'll be installing a 100 Amp Service rated Breaker, Most of these I've found are all double throw to get 240V. Won't these take 100Amp from a single leg of the Main? It just seem logical to me that each phase should come from each of the Main bus bars. Can someone explain why they come from the same leg of the Main?

They don't. The configuration of the pannel is such that each leg feeds alternating breaker spaces. So a 220V two pole breaker will draw from both legs.

Now that's a piece of information I didn't know. I assumed that since there were two bus bars in the Main, that each bar was separate. Thanks for the information, that answers my question

Correct, if you pull the breakers out and look you will find that the buss bars alternate so that every other space draws off of the opposite leg. Therefore, when you put in a 100A 220v double breaker you take 110v and 100A off each leg.
