I think its pretty cool just because its different. I wouldnt mind if someone gave me a plain snap on, but if I was paying, that box is cooler than just plan old red to me.

All of those tool box designs blow because the drawer pulls aren't integrated into the design and chop the image up. There is nothing wrong with Rat Fink though.

Different strokes for different folks, don't like don't buy it.

Too much bitching lately (3 threads on pg. 1 about how "stoooopid" it looks or they're "insane" for charging that much....blah blah)

/beers

My daughter has had one of these in her bedroom since she was 15yrs old. She stores a lot of her Ed Roth/Rat Fink collection in it. Well the smaller stuff anyhow.

Nah, I'm waiting for the Ed Hardy douchebag edition.....lol

I wanted a Bill O'Reilly box and apparently Snap-On was in talks to make one but they found they didnt make a model big enough to fit his ego on the outside. Made me sad ):

More to the point, whether you like it or not, whether it's plain or wrapped, he's going to have a hard time getting $5700 cash for that box.

If Ed Roth had actually painted it it would be pretty cool. Sad he's getting his box repo'd

... beats the hell out of all the SO Dale Earnhardt versions that so many ignorant rednecks were swindled into buying ... and the tools to go in it to. :bounce:

I think its funny when people think these boxes are worth so much more just because they have a big sticker stuck to it... regardless of whats on the sticker! :) I wonder if they sell the stickers by themselves? A tech in our shop has the service cart with the rat fink sticker on it... kinda gives you the street rod, graffiti feel to your boxes... if your into that sort of things.. its good for marketing and drives sales. Lets face it; most of the matco stuff looks boring; anything to spruce them up and get 'em sold is a bonus for them! :)

Actually, it's based on the artwork from the movie on Big Daddy, "Tales of a Rat Fink." Which, BTW, is a damn good movie on what BDR did for in his time on earth.

By itself, that work is typical Ed Roth style and cool. When they put it on a black background, it loses much of the detail. Combine that with the yellow/black combo of the box and all those versions of Finky get real busy, real quick.

i bet the guy would get the money if he ebay'd it. when those boxes came out, they sold like hot cakes. I watched a few on ebay go for more. would i pay it--no. but people do.
