Flipper: cool pictures and as far as i'm concerned you could take hundreds of pictures of that view and i'd never get tired of it.

as far as the lift i only mentioned Woody's thread because i knew he cut under his floor to put his wiring in PVC under it. since i don't own a lift i really don't search for those threads, but if you have time there are a ton of members that own a lift and would be happy to help or answer questions if you don't already find the answers on a thread that has been made.

have a good weekend

The only Issue is the base plate is in the way if you are wanting to roll a transmission jack around. And have a little hump to roll vehicles over which makes it a little difficult if your rig doesn’t run. But the bright side of a base plate is I have zero restriction on how tall of rig I lift. So hypothetically I could lift a sprinter van and still stand under it and I’m 6’2”

And Gregsmith has a retail location in a warehouse in Portland and has every single piece of equipment they sell installed and ready to be played with. It only weighed 1500lbs. I opened it up and took each post off with a chain fall myself but engine hoist would work well too. I had them load it onto a flatbed car trailer.

Ya, I'm pretty sure I'm going with an overhead. And they seem to be running sales pretty often. I didn't even think about just driving down there, could probably rent a car trailer pretty cheap. Thanks!

The biggest selling point for me to drive down there was I got to operate every lift I was considering and put my hands on them. Helped a lot in the decision making process!

A few more pictures as of late. I have not had much time for improvements on the shop. Just have been working in it.

Flipper: i was just heading to the garage and saw those great Mt. Rainier pictures. does that view ever get old? I bet not cause i used to see it every morning taking my kids to school. if you are that good with your little pea shooter care to come over and thin out a few crows for me? i'll be happy to provide beverages and a sound view if you would.

cheers

It sure never gets old that’s for sure! Would love to help but that’s a little too much firepower for a crow lol I wouldn’t even discharge a bb gun in a neighborhood out of fear of striking someone or something unintentional. How’s the house search coming by the way??

Flipper: we live next to a park so not many or any 2 legged critters and lots of the black flying rats at times chasing the eagles and hawks and their babies. i'm finishing up the TO DO list and once that's done the search will get more intense. let me know if the neighbor's house comes up for sale if you don't want to or aren't able to buy it.

stay safe and hope you are almost done with your outside projects now that the rainy season is upon us.

cheers and have a great weekend.

Good luck in your to do’s as well as in your search. I don’t have any outdoor projects in mind. Now that the cold is setting in I’ll be lighting a fire in the shop and doing small fun projects inside.

The last pic is a .223/556. It’s an SSA lower and upper. Aero precision makes them locally in Tacoma. I do have a .308 AR that im looking to sell. It’s a factory S&W M&P 10 LE model (Picture below) I bought from my work during a buy back. And the 1911 is a Kimber custom II .45 I bought 10 or so years ago. And in that picture it has an Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit on it.

Not as bad as you would think. Mostly wet. We don't get too much snow or cold for that matter in my part of the PNW

We have had a decent winter this year (As decent as the PNW can have) Here are a couple of photos I took of the place when we had a couple inches on the ground. Hope you enjoy!

Well three more years have passed And not much has changed. Built a shelter and a pasture to bring the horses home. Have had a few projects over the years in the shop, some of which I still own. Thought I would add some additional photos of the adventures.

I just discovered this thread for the first time today. When I read your opening post about being a young couple with no kids who had found your forever home, I'll admit I was thinking; "Oh yeah right, sure." Mostly because when I was your age my wife and I bought a "starter home" in a cookie-cutter neighborhood, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough! (That was thirty years and four houses ago, ha ha)

As I read on further in this thread and viewed your pictures with all-encompassing awe, I must say that your homestead and the spectacular surroundings are truly a forever place to be.

Somehow I'm reminded of a little-seen, but very enjoyable film from 1984 entitled "Songwriter." Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson play country singer-songwriters battling corruption and dirty dealings in the music business. (I'm a former professional musician, and the film hilariously speaks volumes of truth) It's been a long time since I've watched it, but I recall a scene in which Kristofferson's character stumbles out of bed while still wearing a sleeping blindfold. He doesn't remove it, and while blindly facing a bathroom mirror he says; You good-lookin' sumbitch, don't you ever die." :spit:

When it comes to your homestead, I would just substitute the words "move" or "sell" for the word "die." Best wishes and congratulations for truly finding your forever home. Also, kudos for doing good work in the pole barn!

I just turned 31, we have had the property for a little over 4 years now, and we will have the place paid off before I’m 50! It truly has been a blessing to live there. We have toyed with the idea of selling, mostly because of the enormous value increase since we have owned it, and buying a smaller place outright and being debt free. But at the end of that conversation the answer is always the same. That we will never be able to find a place like this again!

Drives- My apologies for not replying to you. I took a technology hiatus so to speak to focus on some family stuff. It has never gotten cold enough to walk on that I have noticed. Who knows, maybe 2019 is the year we meet!

Flipper: sorry your post slipped past me and I do miss you and your posts on several of my favorite threads.

how about an update on the garage if you have some time and feel free to post on the get healthy thread and other threads if you have time.

2019 is almost over and it's a PITA to find a time of day when I can drive to your area from mine without traffic, but it might happen cause occasionally I do make it down your way.

cheers
