I know this has been beat to death over the years, but I havent found anything in respect to my question.

Foreword: I have kept my wire runs for 12/2 and 14/2 to max 3 cables a hole. All the holes are 7/8 or 1 inch for the ones requiring 3 wires of 14/2. I have a couple single 6/2 runs that are 7/8 holes. Im running out of space as I am trying to keep the wiring in the lower 48 inches of the wall. All the holes are 7-8 inches apart vertically from center to center.

So to my original question, I have to run one 10/2 and one more 6/2 to the other side of the garage. I want to run them in the same 1 inch hole. There is plenty of space for both wires without rubbing or difficulty to pull. Nothing is going through a firestopped hole as its a detached garage. Nothing is bundled for 24inches. Cables are passing horizontally though stud bays that are insulated with rockwool. Im cant for the life of me come up with a reason why I cant do this. There doesn't appear to be a code violation for max nm cables other then when more then 8 CCC are in a hole for derating derating. I know its frown upon and people just drill more holes but I dont see the need for another hole. I want to keep any un-drilled space left for future cables incase I need to another run.

Is this acceptable or why is it unacceptable?:dunno:

Only thing I would be concerned about is if you are in a 2x4 wall is your just on the limit for keeping the cable 1-1/4" from the surface of the studs if you drill your 1" hole perfectly in the center of the stud.

I'd put protector plates on the studs just in case. I wouldn't want to knick those wires mounting anything as its be a hassle and bit of cost later.

Framing is all 2x6 construction, I should have mentioned that. Im used to new construction being 2x6.
