10 amp battery charger lead size question?

I'm repurposing a 10 amp battery charger from a battery powered lift . going to make it a portable battery charger ( my old charger calfed abd all I have is a 2 am trickle charger )
would 16 gauge battery leads be sufficient? it was hard wired on the machine with 10g to the battery

How long?

If short, yeah, it's enough, but I would go a bit bigger,personally

Bigger is better. 14 is probably a good spot and can easily handle 10 amps

Another vote for a 14 gauge minimum.

16 is good for 10A up to 6 feet. If you kept it under 2 feet you could do 20A.

As above though, bigger is better. And since this is GJ, minimum of 8.

Wicked overkill, but booster cables work really nice for this. I found 16' booster cables at Princess Auto (our Harbor Fraught) for I think $9.99 with real alligator clamps. Lopped off one end, installed on my 2/40/100A chargers. Now I don't need an extension cord for the charger.
