I have been using a 8 inch Freud dado blade set on my Delta Unisaw for years with very good results. The 8 inch blade has enough height to cut any dados that I need. If the cut needs to be deeper there are several other ways of making the dado that work just as well and will be safer to cut than a with very tall spinning dado blade.

I got a set from woodworkers wharehouse years ago. I swear it’s six inches. Maybe 8. About $100 bucks. Carbide outer blades and chippers have the carbide tips as well. I don’t think I’ve made deeper then a one inch dado in my life. If I did it would be in something too big to safely run across a saw. I use it a lot to make bee equipment out of plywood and it’s done great. Make sure you get a set with enough cutters to do 3/4 wide at least. BUT measure your arbor. I have a thousand dollar hybrid saw and I barely get 3/4 in the shaft with the nut. Shop for a zero clearance insert as well for your saw or make one to use with the dado. Soooo much safer

I have the Freud 8” set for my Delta scoring saw since the late 80’s - early 90’s. I had to get the arbor holes bored out to 1” for my saw. I also have a couple brass plate shims - card stock thickness that has come in handy on occasion. I have also used the set on my old Dewalt 12” Radial Arm Saw.

While whatnthey are showing you are really nice dato sets and I like nice tools, how much use do you think you are going to make of it?
There are decent dato sets out there for much less if you are only going to be using it occasionally.
I have several, I’m sure I could part with one if you don’t mind used

I grabbed an 8" diablo new off ebay for $65 after coupon ($80) a couple weeks ago.
These go for $100 plus tax at HD.

I think for my occasional use it will be fine. Going to try and make a few simple crates and book cases with it as my first project.
