Depends on what you want to lift (big trucks, little cars, etc) and what you want to do (long-term storage, basic maintenance, major overhauls, etc).

The MaxJax has a following here if you're considering a 2 post. A mid-rise scissors is another option for low ceilings. My favorite so far (I am looking too) is the Atlas Kwik Bay

Mohawk system 1 will go under a 10' ceiling. You just have to be careful because it will quite happily lift anything taller than a sedan through that ceiling though.

Who knows?
Maxjax or a HF scissor lift.

I've got the scissor lift and love it. If my concrete was thicker I'd probably have gone with the Maxjax though.

I recently installed a C-7000 from National Auto Tools. Works great. I have a 10' ceiling and can lift my car to the ceiling. Gives me greater height thus more flexibility than the Maxjax. Also the lift has safety stops every 3" and I can move the posts if I want to with just a hand dolly. Cost is essentially the same as the Maxjax.

I have 9ft ceilings. I had a max jax for 4yrs, and just bought a atlas bp8000 lift from greg smith equipment. I love the atlas, its better then the max jax, cheaper and lifts more and has locks every few inches.

I have 10' 6". I installed a Rotary baseplate model found on craigslist. Haven't put a car all the way up yet, but will try it soon.

I had considered an Atlas base plate type until i found this deal.

You can modify some trusses to get a full height lift in there.
This is what I did for my hoist area.
Looking toward the garage door you can see I plated the entire truss on either side of the bay I was opening up with OSB.

Added collar ties to the three rafters I was cutting out. After the middle of the truss was removed I plated the entire top of the opening with OSB. You can also see the verticles I added to the two end trusses to give the added OSB something to attach to and give it some robustness.

I also added 16" engineered floor joists at both ends of the opening.

These go thru three sets of trusses on both sides of the new opening.
In this pic you can see where the three trusses were cut of at the engineered floor joist.

The cut off trusses were tied into the new structure with joist hangers on the back side.
If you do something along these lines you should be okay. :)
