Does anyone make a non compound non sliding miter saw?

I bought a used Milwaukee 6490 10" miter saw some years ago. Non compound, non sliding, 60 degree, aluminum base 15 amp and made in USA. My favorite tool, gets lots of use.

Well 2 months ago I went to grab it out of the cabinet and when I released the keeper pin in the back, it didn't spring back up. The housing where the return spring hooks on the motor side broke in two places.

Fast forward two weeks ago I was very luck and found a parts saw to get a housing from. After posting a wanted ad on Craigslist a guy reached out to me. Turns out he has about 10 of these saws where I couldn't find another one anywhere.

So, after talking to the fellow I got the housing from we are left with the question.

Does anyone make a standard, 10", non sliding, non compound miter saw? With an aluminum base?

I'll post up some pictures about my saw and the broken part too if anyone is interested

I dont see any modern saw mfg making a NON compound saw unless its a specialty saw.

While I see the benefit to knowing it will never move out of perfect perpendicular to the base, its not really a issue ive ever had and likely not a good selling quality?

Pictures of said saw, that will help get some clicks...

Back in about 1990 Makita made an electric miter saw but I think they had a heavy cast base. The model number was something like LS1020 but there were others also. They might have made a version with an aluminum base. Makita should be able to answer your question. The LS1020 was a really good work horse IMO.

This is all really incidental to the question as my saw is repaired. But more to the point, does any manufacturer still in fact make a general purpose job site saw such as mine.

I know of they are out there as I have one but Milwaukee discontinued it and all support years ago.

Thanks for the makita model #

I haven't checked the market lately but a Makita LS1040 should be okay even if it is a compound miter saw. I think Milwaukee makes a chop saw but it is a different animal.
