1. You can do it yourself.
2. It won't be big enough
3. Use an I-beam for center support, a trolley and hoist is handy when you get older
4. High ceilings
5. Plenty of outlets
6. Plenty of lights
7. Put everything on casters or wheels, it helps when moving stuff around
8. No non-garage stuff in the garage, ever
9. For me, a full sized set of stairs to the second floor with a railing was a must for moving bulky boat parts and bags of decoys up for storage. I wouldn't have a pull down staircase
10. Compressor enclosure - they get loud. Mine is under the landing of the staircase and will be enclosed when I redo my slab this year,
11. The things you don't do yourself will bite you on the ***. I hired someone to do the foundation and dirt work and they never hooked the garage foundation drain to the house foundation drain. All the water in my wet lot stayed under the garage slab and winter frost destroyed my slab. Had I done the job myself I would not have missed this.
