I am still looking for this part for a second generation, LISTA drawer cabinet. I already have the rod, but the round, white puck in the back I can't find.

All the used lista cabinets seem to be missing the locks so there should be some of these out there floating around.

Lista Int. does not sell these parts anymore, I don't know why.

If anyone has one I will pay $100.00 for it. I have restored my box and don't want to mickey mouse some kind of rod on the front to lock it.

Yeah, whoever the "lock busting" expert at Tinker AFB is, he is great at busting those UHMW parts. I do not have what you are after - but I will check my stash one more time today.

You may be in a Swiss pickle. Even if you bought a 'Lock Bar Replacement Kit' for your box (part LK-HXXX with *** being the box height) the newer Rotor is centered with the lock and your is offset like 30mm it seems. A person could MAYBE weld the current lock hole up and cut a new one (off center) in order to use a replacement lock bar, but then you have a deal with the mounting of the lock bar along the bottom of the back.

I wonder if a person could borrow a working plastic rotor assembly and get a 3D scan of it - sending the resulting CAD file to one of those "parts on demand" CNC shops online for a replacement from Aluminum?

Random ideas (all better then paying for one to be made from scratch):

1. Grainger porbably has a bin full of these that they didn't ever sell. The key would be finding the Lista part number (historical) and calling Grainger to find the right person to find the part. I googled "lista lock parts site:www.grainger.com" and got nothing good. My grandfather once told me if Grainger listed all the parts they actually have in stock in their catalog it wouldn't fit in a truck bed (now why they are not listed on an internet accessible database yet is anyone's guess)

2. Linda is a fine idea, as was mentioned

3. You might also reach out to James Roark (ID: RoarkIndustrialSolutions a Senior Member here). Mr. Roark was able to get me some badges a while back that no one else had been able to, so I'm a big fan.

I know Lista has the part number because it was on their website a couple of years ago under lock parts. That is where I got the locking rod shown in the picture. But they were out of these and now I cant remember the part number.

I just can't believe that a company like Lista does not have very many replacement parts. They would make a fortune on these if they started manufacturing them again.

I thought about the CAD idea, or possibly seeing if someone would make me a clay impression of the swirl of it, the rest should be easy to make. But no one I have emailed has had one or didn't answer me.

I think I have a .PDF catalog from 2008 or so. Is that far enough back, do you think?

Don't see that in my commercial price list dated 6/1/09 so it must have vanished in 09 sometime.

Yeah, tried them the other day and they did not have any of them. Says they used to carry them.

The guy who owns that site used to work for Lista. He is a pretty knowledgeable guy.

if there is one new or used one to be found there is an easier way to copy them

take the part and make a silicone or perhaps even a plaster mold of it

fill the cavity with epoxy to make the new part
you can make a bunch this way

We've all been there, needing a small part and can't find it, so we share your frustration. However. let's live in the real world.

In order to understand the reason you can't buy obsolete ant-**** parts, you need to learn the economics by working for a company which is making finished assemblies in the hundreds of thousands and millions of units. With their labor costs and accounting methods, they lose money selling ant **** parts, no matter how many they sell. That's why most companies sell off their leftover parts and outsource the inquiries.

I've created a handful of parts using emachineshop.com. Price to make one part is usually expensive, but if you're smart about tooling and material, it might come in under $100. Or you could order several once the CAD is done, and sell what you don't need. But if you don't have an original to work from...

Hi there!
Let me look into this for you and see if we have these parts anywhere on our floor.

So far this is what I have found out, the square cam rod is available (it's our current design). However, the cam in the back is no longer available. Our purchasing department is looking to see if we do or do not have any more of these older parts in stock.

UPDATE: I finally found the part. Unfortunately I had to buy another Lista cab to get it. Pretty nice cabinet. Paid $175 and I had to drive down to Fort Worth to get it. That's OK though. Stopped by and saw some friends and took the wife with me and went to Bubba's for dinner.

Nice cabinet too. It has a stainless steel top and is in perfect shape. Now I have the part I need so I can pattern another for my other Lista's.

Still looks like you need that part since you robbed Paul to pay Peter.

I'm glad that you were able to find the part and have what you need for future use.

Eh, forget about getting a printer. Find a machine shop guy needing to make a few extra bucks during his lunch to whip one of them out. If you don't know anyone, I've got a buddy that fabs all sorts of things for me.

I know I'm resurrecting a five year old thread, but I'm doing it because it's one of the top hits on google. Which makes me suspect there are other people trying to fix up old Lista cabinets and having the same problem. I took the busted cam out of a cabinet and designed a replacement part. I'd like to offer it to the general public because Listas are good cabinets, worth fixing. I uploaded the design to Shapeways where you can pay about $30 to have a part 3D printed.

http://www.shapeways.com/product/WDSTKQA4B/lista-cam-x2423

And for those of you who have access to a 3D plastic printer, I'll upload it to Thingiverse as well.

That is absolutely awesome of you to do!

Do you have a recommendation for what material to print these out of for optimal strength?

Love the shareware that is happening, its the future.

You mean like this orange one? I have a few in stock that we had 3D printed and they won't cost you $100.

If buying from Shapeways I suggest the "strong & flexible" plastic. I believe it's nylon.
I just had someone order one from Shapeways and he said it worked. Except the set screw hole I put in is too big. But the set screw isn't necessary with the square shaft.

I uploaded a model to Thingiverse for anyone that wants to print it themselves.

I made mine in PLA, which is a little brittle. If you can make ABS, that's probably better. But this part I designed is much thicker than the original, so I'm not worried about PLA breaking.

Here's a picture of the one I printed for myself. Actually this was my first attempt and the square hole was too small so I enlarged it and printed again. That second one I printed is inside my Lista cabinet.

You can see I didn't exactly copy the original part like Joe did. I made it super thick for strength and ease of printing. There's no depression on the back side.

Nice job on that 3D printing of the cam. Ours was done by some engineering students at a university. They were trying to make it as close to the original design as possible. Let us know how your works out once you redo the lock rod square hole. I'm super impressed with this 3D printing stuff.
