I still havent bought a heater yet, i was thinking of going propane. But all my buddies are saying natural gas....I called a contractor and he said if i had the trench dug (which i do) he would install my line on each end and supply the plastic gas line for $300 . The gas meter is about another 20-25 feet away from the trench that stops at my house. I dont wanna dig anymore!!!! My question is, is a 100 foot run too much to split off the main gas line going into the furnace? ( i already have a t-valve off the main before it goes into the furnace from a gas fireplace we removed) The contractor on the phone said he would like to go off the meter, but , if my main line in the house was large enough, he could use that. Does this sound right? Or am i diggin more in the snow if i want gas!

If your system is sized correctly I would use the old fire place T unless you may replace the gas fireplace. Not sure how your systems run up there. Down here most homes are on a 2 pound system with a regulator at each appliance. You can make a 100 ft run with a 2 pound system.
