100% solids over a quickrete epoxy floor?

Well I think Ive gotten as much out of this quickrete flooring I layed down almos 4 years ago. Its starting to chip and discolor in addition to having paint marks, scuffs and just looking bad.


Question is do I have to remove the quickrete epoxy before I put a new floor down? Or can I just go over it with 100% solids epoxy and call it a day?

How much does the piper charge?

You can usually rent a diamond grinder from a tool rental company or Home Depot. They usually run anywhere from $150.00-200.00 per day. They are fairly easy to use and usually have a hookup for a shop vac to keep the dust down.

Definitely take off 100% of the old epoxy before applying the new one. My buddy has the same ongoing issue with the cheapie epoxy. He re-coats every 2 to 3 years and can't stand the outcome when it peels up again.

Odd, my "cheapie" quikrete coating is going on over 8 years of fab work with no issues yet. Oh, and that was on a 60 year old floor covered with 2" of dirt and grease.

If the same crappy prep job is done on an expensive coating, it's going to fail, too.
