$1000 Budget Garage

First off just want to say how amazing all of the garages on here are, and how amazing this forum is. I have been rummaging around the site for around three months now, and have decided to post some of my progress.

This is the first home for me and my wife, we just purchased it in March. We bought the house unfinished, so we got to do all of the finish work ourselves, but it also prolonged the finishing of the garage. Now that all of the work has been done on the inside I have begun the slow progress on the garage. I am trying to keep the entire build around $1000, we'll see how that goes

Here is the garage from the beginning and right after the acid etching of the floor. I have a friend that finishes garages for a living, however I can't afford most of his products but he did give me a smoking deal on my floor!!

Here are a couple of unfinished cabinets that I built on both sides of the garage. They are nowhere close to perfect nor am I a carpenter, this is a budget build so I just went and picked up 3/4" plywood and started building.

Here is my buddy starting to lay down the final clear coat.

The final product looking out from the inside of the house. Hopefully here within a few days I can post some more pictures of painting the walls and cabinets.

sweet project, i myself will have a 1k budget once my parents decide to buy the house with the two car garage. But after i priced out a few things the budget is getting upd to 1500 since the garage floor alon is costing me 800.

Ok here are a few more updated pictures, I now have paint on the walls and cabinets. Now getting all of my stuff moved back into the garage.

I know these are really crappy pictures, but I will get some updated ones here shortly.

Looks awesome. Was there any issue with the small crack in the concrete floor? Can you see it after the epoxy? I like the plywood cabinets also- I may have to steal that idea to replace my hideous cabinets in my garage now. Looking forward to seeing this progress.

No there was no issue with the crack in the floor, we took bondo and fixed all the cracks before we did any of the finish floor work.

Here are a few pictures of the sportster from start to finish. It was a gift given to me for graduating college from my parents. I just recently sold it which I hated to do, but I had to upgrade to a bigger bike since my wife loves to ride so much. I have some big plans in its near future. So a lot has happened since my last update, I finished up running electrical outlets throughout the garage since there was only one, installed my stereo system, hung my 32" flat screen that my wife got me for Christmas, hung some pegboard above my work bench as well as some cork board and installed four new 4 foot fluorescent lights. There still is a little painting to do and a few odds and ends but other than that it's all coming together nicely. And how could I forget the bike has been updated for this year just in time for riding season. Here are a few updated pics.

I notice that your floor has no saw cuts-is that because the house was built before saw cuts became common paractice or is the garage floor not deemed big enough to need any?

I'm hoping to start my project soon & the floor expansion joints are a bit of an issue for me.

Very smart build, love the DIY cabinets. You dont need custom stainless steel cabinets to have a nice shop! (even though we all wish we had them HA!) I love the new project bike, Every Harley I have had I have done the same as you. More black, less chrome! Looks good!!

Nice looking garage considering how modest a space it is. I'm personally finding it tricky to pull off such a clean look with the amount of shear **** I have. Perhaps this'll motivate me to think about letting some stuff go.

My budget is pretty much spent after the radio install and all the new electrical. Just a little more paint and some garage art and I'll call it good for awhile.

Wow it has been forever since I've posted, so I thought it might be time to get my space back up to date. A few things have changed, nothing major just been slowly adding and of course working on things, finally got my wall painted and signs hung. I got the heater at the end of the season two winters ago now and added this past winter and man it's awesome to be able to work in heat in the cold months. Also found a nice air tool rack from Jegs for 20 bucks, thought this was a good idea to free up some space in my overly crowded tool box. As for the truck, my dad found it for me in a guys field back home, he said if we picked it up we could have it for free. So we snatched it up and now it is my new project, AKA "Project No Buck"!! Hope you guys enjoy.

They are actual paint chips like you would get from a normal expoxy floor coating system, however it's 110 lbs worth, then scraped all the loose and excess off, then cleared over. The undercoat is a Sherwin Williams product.

Well I've blown the title that is for sure, but when I started the thread that is what I gave myself for the project and I'm happy to say I stuck to it, and now I can just slowly add!! Thanks for looking.

Very nice garage! My garage is similar in size and that is the EXACT flooring look I would like to go for. I assume this is less expensive than race deck and I kind of think I like it better. I'd be interested in alot more info on the floor so, I can source it here in Maryland. Actually I may source someone to do it too. I don't want to mess it up.
