My original game plan was to go with use tin for my ceiling to give inside rustic look. But started thinking that would make area little to dark, so I shifted gears. No backing out now so went with what’s called double V groove board. Choice of finish is Minwax in satin finish. I wasn’t able to get all I needed but for now it keep me busy. They only sale in 10’ and 16’ lengths. 10’ers work for back porch but I need 12’ers for front porch. I figured I would have too much waste since both porches needs 64 boards each. Well as can see I wasn’t far from losing my load, I had cross railroad tracks by my house so dang it. Plus I should added couple more straps. Finishing plans is just sealer coat on back side and maybe couple on the show side using Spar Urethane. Progress is sooooo slow

Karoc: A mini roller will lay down the sealer on the backs very quickly. The roller will also work for the fronts as long as you brush it out immediately. Probably best to do the application under cover so the sun doesn't dry the urethane before you can brush it out.

I am contemplating a similar project using Menards prefinished vboard 1 x 8s. They are about $3.80 a square foot and have t and g on the edges and on the ends so you dont waste too much.

We want pictures of your progress and a full report!

Good luck.

I wish I was able go that route, sure would save lot time. I do love sharing my progress and things learned not to do. But to help speed up finishing proceeds going break out my sprayer. Me being 2.5 hrs away I thought I could still work on place from distance. Started with these 10’ers which be for back porch which need 65 for that. Back porch should be easy which get those boards out way. I just put one coat on backside help seal wood since be outside.

man i was just trying to work with 16 footers on my shed exterior soffit and got so aggrivated i ended up cutting them down. The long ones were not straight it seems or slightly twisted. I made some helping hand 2x4 things so i could screw up and have it hold one end and the middle.

My spray booth, but it’s little windy today. Looks like I will need couple coats, tip I have guess is little small 310. Guess two costs be better than one heavy coat.
Before long, my legs going have satin finish
