Just finished terminating my garage sub panel. A few tips that are probably obvious to pros but not to us weekend warriors.
1. Locate the panel at a height that is comfortable for you to work on. Mine had to be a little higher than I would have liked with meant 3 hours on a ladder to terminate.
2. Run more wire length into the box than you think you need. This gives you options when laying out the circuits.
3. Afci breakers are 1.5x as long as regular ones. If you have a ground bus, locate it on the opposite side of where you load your afcis, if possible. (I failed to do this)
4. Tighten your romex connectors as you load them in the panel! It can get tricky to tighten them after its fully loaded.
5. Obviously - work carefully and neatly and label everything. I made up all my labels before I stripped a single romex jacket.
Any other tips you guys have for next time are welcome!
