Aaaand it arrived today! Initial impressions are very favorable. It feels super durable, the magnet is crazy strong, and the folding mechanism has just the right amount of resistance.

The user interface perplexed me at first until I realized what was going on. Simply put, click the switch and it will come on at the last level you had it on when you turned it off. Hold down the switch, and it will begin ramping up or down (depending on what direction it was ramping when you turned it off) until it reaches the upper or lower end of its range. Then, if ramping up, it will blink off, then back on to its highest mode. The part that confused me is that when ramping down to the lowest setting, it doesn't blink off first to indicate it has reached low, but rather blinks once at max output.

The flashlight geek in me thought that was counterintuitive because if you're ramping down, you want less light, so to have to experience a 1000 lumen flash before getting to low is a bit shocking. I feel like it should be switched. Flash at max brightness to indicate you've reached high, and flash off (or at min brightness for that matter) to indicate you're on low.

This very minor UI quirk aside, I think it's going to be a winner, especially when the wireless charging pad arrives.

Thanks to Astro for doing this and for supporting Garage Journal.

Edit to add a few more pictures comparing the 100sl to the Milwaukee m12 River light. This may not be the best head tot head comparison but it's close. The Astro is clearly smaller, even with a CP 2.0 battery in the Milwaukee.

The Astro is brighter on high at 1000 lumens compared to the Milwaukee's 700 and has infinitely adjustability down to the low mode of 100 compared to the Milwaukee which has just 1 mode other than high (low).

The Astro is USB-C rechargeable but the Milwaukee can of course have its battery swapped out at any time (including with a larger battery).

I prefer the slightly warmer color temperature of the Milwaukee but that's subjective (a poor attempt at beamshots below). Both have purely floody beam profiles with no optics shaping the beam.

Welp, looks like I might not be getting mine any time soon.
Amazon really ***** sometimes.

Mine was supposed to be delivered today.

Got home from work and Nothing on the porch.
So I look up on Amazon and see this...

1.jpg

Ummm, ok, so I click 'Track package'...

2.jpg

I notice there is no link there for 'See all updates' like there usually is for a package that is 'on the way' and also the tracking number listed looks like a UPS tracking number with a 1Z.... instead of the usual TBA... for an item 'Shipped with Amazon', :headscrat

Like this example from a completely different order...

4.jpg

Hmmm, that's strange. Since there is no 'See all updates link with this Astro order, but it has what looks like a UPS number instead of an Amazon TBA number, I look that number up on UPS tracking...

3.png

So there it is. UPS has never heard of that number.
Amazon went from saying it is 'On the way but running late' and tells me to 'Track package for details' when instead of any details there is a fake tracking number and a message saying if it's not here by Monday I can ask for a refund.

I don't want a refund. I want my light.

My 52SL has a shiny new charging pad that arrived today. The 100SL is showing an arrival date of the 28th or 29th. Thank you to Astro Tools and Chris for the gift - your presence on GJ has certainly been an influence on my purchase of other Astro items in the past, and will continue to be an influence on my buying decisions in the future.

Got the charging pad today from Astro though to tide me over.

My ETA is June 2 and I believe the charger is arriving tomorrow, May 24. Thanks Astro and Chris!

Arrived 5/27 and this light is amazing. Bright and just what I needed. Looking to pick up another soon.

My charger showed up yesterday. I'm expecting the light by this Saturday.

Welp. I guess Amazon is going to come through on this order. I waited until Tues like they said and called and was offered a refund, which after I explained I didn't want, they decided to actually ship me one. lol.

Your Orders.png

Ordered on May 16. After the BS 'your package has shipped and due to arrive on May 22' notifications it finally actually shipped on May 24, and hopefully now due to arrive on Friday the 27th if I'm lucky.

Amazon Prime shipping at it's finest. So glad I pay them the $140 a yr they are up to now for this privilege. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still haven't seen the wireless charger either. I assume it's on its way too?

I received my light and charging pad Tuesday. Haven't had time to play with it yet, but it seems like a quality product. (y)

After a bit of Amazon shipping drama I detailed in previous posts they did finally make good with getting the 100SL here and the wireless charging base showed up too, so just wanted to find this thread and give the happy-ending-afterall update. :D

This little sucker is BRIGHT. I will soon be ordering another 52SL folding double-sided light to take up the extra spot on the charger.

I received my 100SL and charger base a couple days ago. While technically, it's a fathers day present to myself, I had to try it out real quick before turning it over to my wife...lol I must say, for a compact light, it's extremely bright! The magnetic base stuck to the fridge very strongly, so I think it'll serve me well at the shop and around the house! I think I'll be adding the 52sl at some point. Nice product Astro!

Got mine too + a 52SL to keep it company. I kind of wish both had a rotary dial switch like the 65sl. Nothing beats that IMHO in user interface.

Why would you assume a non-wirelessly rechargeable light will wirelessly recharge?
Why would I assume that it's very simple, so someone like you can feel so superior in your infinite wisdom that you can come on the forum and belittle a serf such as myself.

Now head back down to mom's basement and have another hot pocket in your greasy wife beater and whip another loser in Call of Duty or whatever game you guys play.

Will the 65SL charge on the magnetic pad? I assume it will but want to verify before I order one.

I think everyone is getting the 52SL as a result as it is the one other Astro light that has wireless charging capability. I vaguely recall that Astro had to drop the wireless charging capability in the 72SL due to packaging constraints and to support the magnet on the back.
