I do not understand why a ratchet could cost so much money? :headscrat

I would never pay a 1/4 of that for a ratchet.

I work with tools on a regular and still can't justify the cost of something like that.

I have a Channellock tool set my dad bought me for Christmas one year and it can almost do everything I have needed to do on my Nova so far and it comes with a 5 dollar plastic case that is about 1% the size of some of the tool boxes I have seen around here? :beer:

OK now, everyone get a grip. The new Snap-On, China edition will be coming out in the next couple of months. Prices are said to go within 2% of retail, on EBAY.

The memo states, there will be enough stock to go around. Snap-On is going to manufacture a "BLING" series line. They will be made injected plastic, chrome plated. This line is made to cover the "Tool Collector" who wishes to own Snap-On but never uses tools.

$157 for a ratchet? Just use a cheater bar, I get freebies out of the dumpster at my job - scrap lengths of 1'' and 1-1/2'' RMC.

I received a craftsman tool set for my birthday that has everything I need and then some. I have touched the SAE stuff only a few times, and those times were for construction related jobs. I bought a nice set of metric wrenches and a hex bit socket set. I can take apart my entire car with just these tools. I don't understand why some guys have SIX 3/8'' ratchets and around three of every other tool.

Well yes, I guess I do. I have at least three of everything else, it seems.

It is often handy to set up a ratchet with a socket/extension for various aspects of a job, different sized fasteners, some up top and some underneath the car, etc. It saves tons of time.

Of course, this requires duplicate ratchets, sockets, extensions, etc.

You can never have too many combination wrenches, especially in popular sizes.

If one is good, three is better! :thumbup:

I don't have six 3/8 ratchets,I have about 25 :thumbup:

have you ever tried taking a transmission down by yourself,on your back with jackstands.no,I'm not talking about front wheel drives.you will understand how fun it is doing it with one set of socket and ratchet.and no the air ratchet won't reach.it could be done,but its a lot easier if you have your ratchets setup with its own socket.you will be cussing everybody within a mile radius when that extension with your socket rolls 20 feet away from you. :beer:

I have bid up to $120 on a ratchet just like that, I don't understand what the big deal is. These ratchets are almost $160 off the truck and that one is in good shape. By the way, for those that say they would never pay that muc for a ratchet, try making a living with your tools. When there are times a 3/4" drive won't fit in a tight spot and you don't have enough swing for your breaker bar, that ratchet is worth it's weight in gold. :beer:

I don't understand how anyone can work with just one tool in each size.

And single sets of sockets? How do you do it? There are so many times I've needed an exact length of socket to get to a nut.

Is it just me or can anyone else not understand why we have to scrutinize the price of every Snap-on tool that is sold on eBay. If someone asks a technical question or for advice on a purchase they would be extremely lucky to get 21 responses.

That is a very true statement and that's why I don't visit the site as much as I use to. It use to be about tools and it turned into an ebay message board and how everyone overpays on ebay.

on the race team i was on i did it with a single wrench and my stomach was the jack stand. munchie 4 spd that i will never forget did it about 6 times in a month once.

I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. I ended up putting a clutch in our '82 chevy one ton on my back in the Napa parking lot one day.
