108-Piece Craftsman Mechanics Tools Set

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-108-pc-mechanics-tools-set/p-00938108000P

Regular Price = $99.99, Deal of the Day for $42.74, minus 10% off online price.

Then add coupon code 9817279705851049 for an extra 20% off.

Comes to $34.19.

Free shipping with MAX, or Free store pickup.

You can also use surprise points or other points to bring the price even lower than $34.19.

COO is CHINA. So just putting that out there, to get that question out of the way from the start.

Not much in this set, a lot of filler pieces. Looks to be about 2/3rds good tools, and 1/3rd filler (hex keys, driver bits, etc.). But would be great Christmas presents, something to throw in the trunk for emergencies, or something to give to a high school kid starting out working on car.

#1 I can't get the coupon code to work.

#2 It is now #44.87

Code 9817279705851049 still works. Make sure you are logged into your account first. Then add item, then add code.

Price did go up, but with coupon code the price is now $35.90.

Thanks OP . . . ordered 2 that I'll give as gifts.

With your coupon code, plus another 10% online discount today, plus $3 in ShopYourWay discount points, plus using my Sears Card . . . .
. . . . . all total of $80 which includes a $10 Craftsman 16 oz ball peen hammer.

Net is lower yet of $69 after $11 in SYW points on next purchase. That's pretty cheap for 2 sets of 108 piece tool sets and a ball peen hammer !! ;)

Great deal overall. Thanks again.

You guys ****. I just bought the 108, the 51-piece max axess chrome, and some other things. Spent $110 and $38 back in points.

Stop posting codes that are better than my 10% discount! You guys gave me 33% discount all told and that's not counting the points earned! (I love you )

Certainly a great deal. If you look long and hard, you can still fin USA made sets on the shelves. My local Sears Hardware was blowing them out at $25 a set this past winter. I bought 3 sets.

If they were still made in the US, my trunk would be loaded with their tools.. I refuse to buy craftsman now...used to love buying their tools..hell of a steal though!

How's the quality of current made in China Craftsman tools compared to Taiwan made Kobalt or Pittsburgh Pro? I have some older USA made craftsman sockets which are quite nice but I have no idea how the current ones compare.

I just picked mine up and inspected it. must say I'm surprised at the quality. I had a set of Chinese 12pt deep std and metric sockets I picked up on BF a couple years ago that were complete junk. so bad I sold them. these are much nicer finish and broaching, as if it is a completely different supplier. even the ratchet is nicer than the Chinese ones in the stores I have gotten as exchanges. pretty good value for <$35...of course, they are still RP low tooth count ratchets, which HF blows away...

Yeah, I work there and even I'm surprised. The quality actually has improved that only the cheapest sets leftover are lobster claws. The sockets still have some of the internal look some people here don't like, but the wrenches have improved almost to the USA standard right before switching (but without the bottom of the barrel rust issues).
The ratchets are still the normal ****. They're workable as backups though.

On another subject: Why didn't EdJack just post the thread title as announcing the awesome coupon? It's 20% off the entire tools section sold by Sears (and from what I can see, you can use it twice or more). How about a $240 8' stainless steel bench-top for $190 before tax? That is what this thread should've been about.

*EDIT*
Hell. How about a 72" Viper bottom for $2080 (+shipping, but it's just a reference point). I got coupons to apply on my buy yesterday as well so I'm sure you could get something extra to work more than likely.
(And yes, you can buy it for 1900 on vipers website with free shipping, but just throwing an example out there)

As long as it's actually sold by Sears in the tool department, you should be able to utilize the coupon.

Normally those long coupon codes are only for one-time use, so you can't share the code after using it.

I'm quite surprised that thousands have been using it over on Slickdeals since Monday morning, but SYW or Sears has not killed the code.

Timmy . . . . . . If you want the 8 ft stainless steel bench top, head over to SearsOutlet as there are some deals out there. I bought 2 for $75 each !! ;)

However, it did require a 400 mile one-way road trip to pick them up.

What's the quality like on the bench top?

They're actually not bad. Same for the butcher block tops. Neither are the highest of the highest quality, but they are sturdy and the SS top weighs plenty (the bastards were fun to move on our old handtrucks). MDF core on the SS and (72" also available) 96"W x 24"D x 1.5"H.

YMMV. The one here is priced at $240.

These were New in box. From what I've seen in prior GJ threads they are highly rated and I can attest, they're some HEAVY somm beeeches !! ;)

Haven't opened the boxes yet as still deciding on what to do for bases. Likely will be a while before I'm ready for them in garage.

My wife picked up my set for me today. It's really nice for the price. The new owner approves. They will be his once he is big enough to use them. I've been picking up tools cheap and deals I see and building a starter set for him.

Been doing the same thing for my two boys.

The funny smell w/the case goes away for the most part if you wipe it down. Not bad for $30-something.

Thanks for this. Great deal for that money, I ordered a set for pickup.

I also had $15 in points and I don't remember signing up for shop your way account. Super win.
