Not exactly garage related I know, but it is something you might store in the garage, or play outside by the garage. :)

I have a set of ******** boards that aren't finished. I'm wondering if anyone has finished they're own and if so what kind of paint and urethane did you use?

Thanks,
Gary

A buddy of mine has built several sets of those. DO NOT use anything glossy. It's like throwing the bags onto a block of ice.

That's half the fun!

I've built a few sets over the last couple of years. Here is my favorite set so far. I first stained them using a basic oil stain, then applied 2 or 3 coats of polyurethane. Next, I taped off where my blue boarder was to be, and primed then painted. A then applied the UK decal, and applied a couple more coats of polyurethane to seal everything.

I actually just finished up building 2 more sets today, just have to stain/paint them next.

Here are some pictures of a set I built last year:

Threads about this game always make me snicker when I see them. (I belong to a few RV forums)

I can just see some guy asking the person camping next to them asking "hey buddy! wanna play ******** with the wife and I"?

Nice looking boards. What do you use to fill the screw holes?

I like the boards with 3 different sized Holes for different point values. Makes the game a little more tricky. Larger hole on the bottom of the board worth 1 point, Medium size hole worth 3 points and small hole at the top of the board worth 5 points.

The one that is posted looks really well done though! Good show!

It's all built with biscuits and glue, so no nails/screws (except for the legs, those are nailed).

The ones I just finished building today I assembled the frame with 3" wood screws and glue, and attached the top with a finish nailer and glue. The nail holes are very small and will be able to be filled easily, as opposed to using screws on the top. Really it's the glue that's used to hold it, the nails are just there to pin it more or less.

As a native Kentuckian, I have to say those are pretty sweet. On the other hand, I hate ********. That game bores me to death.

Really - my first thought was why was someone from MI building University of Kentucky themed ******** boards?
I'm still wondering....:headscrat

My dad has had a set of these for as long as I can remember (i'm only 32).
They are a solid box, no folding legs, and they have always been glossy. and we have always called it beanbags or bags for short. I hate the name ********!

Bags or Bag toss works be for me, here's a couple sets I've made. Mine are glued and screwed together. I use 1/2" sanded plywood and 2"x4" wood for the frame. I use exterior semi-gloss paint
