Just got a Wright 10x8 . Compared it to my Sk 8x10, GearWrench 8x10 and Long Mac 10x11. Compared 10mm box ends and wrenches in general

The GearWrench seems to be the best of the lot. The Mac seems to have a side shaved off and looks very thin there. Wright is too thick. The SK is short and looks like a dollar store tool.

That Wright looks terrible. I can't believe how fat the ends are. I have a set of old logo Snap-On XBMs and they're great- the ends are super thin and the broaching is really good. I'm surprised Wright would sell a wrench like that- their stuff is usually really nice finish wise.

Use them a bit and report again. I have the same GearWrench one, but 10x12mm. I had it for more than 5 years now. Never used it once. Sad.

I love 45 degree DBE's. Maybe because Dad had them around and they're familiar. But they feel more natural to me than combination style wrenches or zero offsets. I have Blackhawks and they don't even have a place in the tool box. They hang on the wall behind my primary bench.

you have to remember that Wright makes stuff for industrial uses. That’s anything from government contracts to Neanderthal workers on union construction sites that could break an anvil with a rubber hammer. they are built to be robust. 0E991D7A-DB33-4672-B511-DD9161AE7957.jpeg073B74A2-63F7-4D5A-9F8D-7ACD66C2B2BA.jpeg

i actually prefer the wrights. They are the most comfortable to use. The offset is perfect. The thick box end isn’t an issue 101% of the time when you aren’t working on cars. There’s been two times in the last 10 years when working on small gasoline engines that the box end was to fat. I’ll grab the wrights long before I grab the snap on combo wrenches just due to how comfortable they are. I just bought these proto professionals super cheap on eBay to try out. I like them, but still prefer the wrights

It was only a matter of minutes before the Wright defenders were going to jump all over this. The only question I ask is why when an American company does something odd that's a pass but when the Chinese or Taiwanese do something (like god forbid make a "lobster claw" combination wrench and sell it for cheap at the Home Depot) it's an unforgivable sin?

I think it has been aptly pointed out several times that Wright doesn't target automotive mechanics. How is that any kind of pass?

Wright changed their design on the double box wrenches a couple years ago, I posted about it then comparing their old style to their new style.

I love DBE's when the time is right, sometimes straight, sometimes angled. Depends on the job. I just had a tough time getting to the bolt to change the oring on the Acura power steering pump, the 45 degree 10mm DBE got me in there and let me get the bolt out. I couldn't make any combination of socket and ratchet and extension work. Too tight
