10x1.0 Rivnuts

Searched on here and online to no avail. Neither Grainger, Mcmaster-Carr or my local bolt supplier carry them.
Looking for some metric 10x1.0 rivnuts to fasten a Moroso battery box to my floorboard in my foxbody mustang..unless someone has a better idea than dropping the tank.
Can find them in 10x1.25 all day long.

Why don't you use the 1.25? Sorry if that is a dumb question but I'm guessing that you are trying to match it up with existing hardware to reduce cost maybe?

That size is what came with the box.

Worst case scenario is trying find the length of rod that's threaded in the more common sizes, like 3/8-16 or 10x1.25.

The rod is threaded on the very ends and goes through the floorboard, through the box and is the battery hold down.

M10 x 1.25 is 'standard' fine thread.

M10 x 1.50 is 'standard' coarse thread.

M10 x 1.0? That's metric "extra fine" thread. Don't know why some battery box fasteners are extra-fine thread.

IMHO, just use some standard 3/8-16 UNC fasteners (if you want to use SAE sizes) or go for an M8 x 1.25 or M10 x 1.5 standard metric coarse thread.

I don't really see the want/need for fine threads on a battery box. YMMV though.

Astro Tools has rivnut tools and rivnuts (but no M10 rivnuts, although they have some tools that have the mandrels/tips to install M10).

I may end up doing just that.... cost added to the box value...why couldn't they just use commonly available sizes is beyond me...never a quick fix.
Damnitall...they just gotta be difficult.

That thread is used as a metric pipe size, similar to our 1/8 IPS.

That may help you if pipe instead of rods will work in your application.

I have a bunch of taps and dies in that size, along with assorted lengths of pipe and locknut's. I got it in Spain. Fairly common there.

Are you sure it’s not 7/16x24? They are pretty close.

Seen more than one person confuse them.

I'm sure....unless the thread checker thing at the hardware store lied. Too big for 3/8", but threaded into 10mmx1.0 perfectly.

Gonna weld a couple nuts to the floorboard and call it done.

The only time I've seen that thread pitch is on a bicycle derailleur mount. I've never seen a rivnut used in that application.

Gave up on finding some rivnuts in that size and did just like the video I linked to...worked out nice.
