Would you design a garage with an 11' wide garage door? I am running into an issue with the size of the garage i want to build. I wanted to build a 32' wide garage with three 9' wide doors. Well now it looks like the most I can possibly go is 27' wide and may have to cut back to 26' wide. I'd still like to try to shoehorn 3 cars in there for storage. I realize I will never have room to work but I would like to get one out on a regular basis In-order to be able to get in and out I am going to need the widest door possible. On the 27' width I can fit two 11' doors, could probably fit 12' but there would be no space for the jack shaft opener. My local lumber supply caries Wayne-Dalton doors and from what they told me all the doors are custom width (2" increments) but there may be a limitation on which style you can use for some sizes. It would be no problem to get the 11' door in the style I want. But is this true for most manufactures? Should I just stick with 10' doors?

I'd stick with 10' doors. 11' doors will be an issue if you ever need to replace sections in the future. Is there no headroom to fit standard "T" rail operators over head?

It will be a cathedral ceiling and I want the doors to follow the slope as close as possible.

Do a PIC search.
We have had standard style openers installed on catherdral ceilings.
I would expect such an install would create less stress due to the shallower angle.

That's kind of a tough fit...you can't really get two cars through an 11' door. I started looking at two different width doors but you really can't get anything that's more usable there either.

Why not a single wide door such as an 18 foot wide one? I had one on my other house. It was a lot nicer then the two 9 footers I have had for the last 25 years.
