Just found this thread, nice building. I didn't get a chance to read it all but what city are you in?

Hoping good business isyhe reason for the lack of updates!

You hit the nail on the head! Spring is going to absolutely slam us bit I am not complaining. We got out of the flooring business and are now 100% EIFS/Stucco/Plastering.

I apologize for not updating recently (ok....2 years lol) I am heading there tomorrow and will post some pics.

Talk about wild coincidences!! I was just checking back with this thread about ten minutes before your response. I was debating on whether to kill the subscription, because I figured it was a dead thread. Glad to see you're still around, and everything, including the project are going well. I look forward to your update.

Update as far as the shop goes:

The ceiling was in last time I updated but someone requested new pics so I will take care of that tomorrow.

We put in the 11 glass block (in frames) windows that I picked up for $100. The remaining windows will be in filled with the loose glass block I have......who knows when.

We did a bit of framing allowing us to remove the 2 iron posts at the front of the shop to allow more room bringing in vehicles.

On the 15th I am having a new Rheem high boy oil furnace installed. The novelty of the hand fired coal is wearing off and if I can set the thermostat to 45 degrees and forget it until I am actually working in the shop it's worth it to me. We are going to install the tank in the basement.

Brought in a new project....

wow, what a project to stumble across. subscribed and hope to see some more updates to a really unique space. I must agree with what others have said, that is it great to see an old building rehabbed. Makes me wonder what kind of potential buildings in my little hometown have.

Spent a few hours at the shop today. I made a workbench area to keep some of my boat project supplies organized and a general work area. These are the science lab tables I got at a school auction a few years back complete with colorful graffiti.

The 2 drawer cabinet I got from a bank remodel fit perfect underneath and is a good place to chuck some power tools.

You can also see the windows we installed earlier in the year. These came from a jobsite demo.

This is really, really cool! Thanks for posting up along the way. Those black top lab tables are legit, I haven't been lucky enough to find any.
These were about the only good thing I saw there. I wanted to pic up some metal shop class stools but they got bid up to a ridiculous price.

A couple more pics I took today.

This is the front area where we framed a partition wall and load bearing office wall (well....it WILL be an office when it is done being storage) to allow me to remove the 2 steel poles that made coming in the door pretty tight.

And a shot of the forklift we picked up. It smokes more than my wife but sure does make life easier.

Very cool. Do you guys do a lot of stucco jobs up there? There isn't as much call for it down here because of stress cracking when the weather turns cold.

I have been in business since '03 and I have bought one skid of stucco mix and it's the one I bought for my shop haha. We do a bit of direct applied Dryvit on block or concrete though. Holds up well.

"You ****" big time! Great find and even greater that you chose to dive into it and make it something worthwhile. Looking really good!!

Haven't seen any pictures where the stairs go right into the mezzanine and you have the low truss issue, but would it be possible to level off the stairs at 7 ft below the bottom of the trusses and go level until you get to the wall, then resume stairs into the space? It would take up some mezzanine floor space and you'd have to cut and support at least one floor joist but it would get access you could walk on upright.

Keep up the good work!

Looking forward to your next post in, ummm.... six months to two years?:lol_hitti

Something I meant to share previously.

I found an invoice for a used 1952 Mercury for $530 sold out of this garage back when it was Dunlaps. It came with all the bells and whistles including heat and defrost!

While the invoice itself is interesting, the best part is the man who purchased it, my late Grandfather.

Very cool!

Now if you can find the car...
Well.....we do have a VIN! I bet if I dug around at the house I could find a pic in one of the old albums (I live in his old house. As a matter of fact my Great Grandfather also used to own this house)
