Great shop build, and your property looks really nice too.

What type of lift are you putting in? And what did you make the bench tops out of?

Thanks guys. The lean to is being priced so we will have to see what the price is. I have asked them to provide materials only and Ill put it up myself so that should help some.

Not sure on the lift yet and will have to be down the road a ways.

The work benches are melamine sheets that I cut to fit and edge banded the for a finished look. I built the frames for them out of 2x4 and then covered the front with the cut off from the worktop. I bought them as 24x96" peices and ripped them to 19" to make them the right depth for the under counter tool boxes.

Got a little more work done in the shop today. The barn doors still weren't insulated so I started that and covered them with 4x8 sheets of FRP wallboard from home depot. The it makes is similar to the inside of an insulated overhead garage door. Since the doors are framed like a wall with 3.5" steel studs I am able to get R-13 in them. Should help with the heat and cold since it faces the sun for a good portion of the day and the wind always blows that way in the winter. I only had a 6' ladder here so I want as far as I could reach since the doors are 14' tall and will have to finish the top when I bring a taller ladder home. Still have another row to go up top to finish it off.

How do you like having such a narrow work surface? I am use to 24-36" - I have one that is 48" currently that I find vastly too big. I like 28" ish depth normally. But I am planning new benches and I am looking at 24-28" depths.

Wallboard looks really good. Good call on insulating the doors.
