This is a nice price for a good grab-and-go kit, maybe a Christmas gift for someone in your family who doesn't have a "real" socket set, or maybe as a loaner.

The 84-piece count is fairly honest. There are only 16-screwdriver bits here, and no hex keys. There are 63 actual sockets, with some size duplication.

I particularly like that there's only *one* ratchet in the box. When I see a blow-mold layout with 3 ratchets in there, it always seems like a waste of space. A 1/4" ratchet fits easily in your pocket anyway, if you really need one.

Everything is 6-point. Again, this is good use of space. I have a Blackhawk set that has 12-pt/6-pt dupes, just seems silly.

A friend of mine ordered it last week at $45. It’s supposed to arrive today. She’s going take some pictures, I’ll post them here. I think I’ll make my decision based on how the case looks. I know the sockets and ratchets are good, I have the ~20 piece set.

I have the bigger set. The ratchets are extremely heavy. The heaviest of any ratchets in my collection.

For the money, this looks like an amazing set, especially since it's all 6 point (important for those of us that live in areas where they dump salt on the roads). However, if you want slightly better coverage in the extended sizes, need 1/2" drive, or want the torx/robertson/etc. stuff that you see on some foreign cars, I'd spend the extra money to get the 301 piece PIttsburgh set. Personally I think it's the best tool Harbor Freight sells, period.

I ordered the 84 piece set when this thread first appeared. Received it today. Seems like a nice set to throw in the back of the truck. Unfortunately the ratchets has problems - only works in one direction Guess I'll get to test the warranty. Maybe I should open the ratchet up first and see if there is anything obviously wrong.
