I'm hoping to drywall/insulate my attached garage this summer. I will also be bringing a couple 20amp/110v outlets to the garage to supplement the 15amp circuit that is out there.
My breaker panel is in the basement, about 4' away from the garage wall. The garage wall is cinder/concrete block. Probably 8" thick.
In the garage, the wire will be romex and behind a raceway or drywall which is ok by code.
I can't find the code requirements for bringing 12/2 romex through a block wall. (from inside the house into the garage) I am thinking a short section of 1-1.5" pipe to act as a sleeve, and then some firestop caulk to seal it up. I am thinking that romex by itself is for some reason a no-no, even if it's only going from 1 side of the block to the other.
I will be bringing two 12/2 wires through the wall so I can have each outlet on a separate circuit. My big draw items are 110v compressor, small MIG welder, and Maxjax lift, none drawing power at the same time.
