12'-6" ceiling, will these LED high bays work?

I have a 900 sq ft shop with 12'-6" tall ceilings. I seen these over at menards and am curious if they may actually be too bright. 20,000 lumins seems like a lot. I was gonna buy 2 of these fixtures. We have some like these at work but the ceiling is about 30 feet up and work great. Is my ceiling too low?

I think 'high bay' lights are for ceiling ~20' and up, so perhaps not the best fit for your space. I would think you would want more fixtures to evenly distribute the lighting. You may also want more light over a bench or lift

I suggest using light calculator if your into that type of thing.

I used 22, twin t8 fixtures in 1300sqft

Yes, WAY too low.

May have to be hung below the ceiling, check that out. From my experience with similar lights, I'm thinking that hanging them at 16' would require the optional lens kit for best results. I've had problems with the lower output version at 16' but it was at the end of a long aisle where you can get them in your line of sight.

I Just got 2 of these lights as a test. I installed one at 15ft ceiling height and they are pretty darn bright. I think they are a good light for the money.

For a 12.5' ceiling you need fixtures in the 8000 to 14000 lumen arena (for a workshop). Going for the lower lumen output with higher fixture qty yields even shadow free illumination. Opting for higher lumen output with fewer fixtures = uneven shadow prone results. A 4x4 pattern (16 fixtures) of these (link) will do the trick (assuming a 30' x 30' space).

The fixture you linked to is terrible. Way too much lumen output for your ceiling height. Regardless of lumen output, never buy an LED fixture with exposed unprotected LEDs. Even a clear lens is better than no lens.
