I had that happen to me last month. Had a 20 inch 3/8 extension that needed warrantied. They didn't have any in stock at sears, so he called craftsman and had them send me one. He didn't want to take the extension, so I took it to another store and got it replaced. A few days later, the new one from craftsman came in the mail.

I don't see a problem with that. The guy hands in one extension and ends up with two. He probably assumed Sears would never send him the other one in the mail; I wouldn't of thought so either. What's the big woop? We're talking about a major corporation here, not a little girl scout that's short one box of cookies. Some of you guys are silly as heck. :wtf:

Don't see the problem? The guy is told he will get his warrantied tool via. mail and is given his old junk back to do whatever he pleases. At that point, he has already received his warranty claim period. Taking it back to another store for another is stealing, plain and simple. There is no fine line here, stealing is stealing is stealing. Trying to justify it by arguing it's OK because it's from a major corporation is complete and utter garbage.

The dude STOLE, is bragging about it and you see no problem with it? :wtf:

As much as many of us bust on Sears (including myself) Sears done the right thing and the employee probably gave the broken tool back incase the new extension didn`t get shipped or was lost in shipping. Statement above said "it came in a few days" That sould have been the end of story. Personally I`m glad to see so many here say it was wrong to double exchange:beer:

I guess this is the "I am abusing the xxxxx warranty" thread of the week. I wonder what it will be next week...

Why, give me reason.

Like any ratchets, reasons are based on useful "to me" features (opinions).
For me, the first one, isn't quick release (not that big of a deal), doesn't come in all the different models that the second one comes in (missing flex heads). Handle size is a hand size issue. Lastly the most useful feature of the good one, is the speeder on the second ratchet. Besides being useful for its intended use, it also helps to keep all the gunk out of the ratchets guts (acts as a grease shield). I have access to one of the original ones and it still is in good shape. (kind of an early sealed head, IMHO).

10 more pages of posts to get through, and we wonder why people disappear.:lol_hitti

Just how pure and perfect are you? How many times have you rolled though a stop sign without coming to a complete stop first? How many times have you made a lane change without using your turn signals? Did you go 5 miles an hour over the speed limit today? You did? You're breaking the law and putting other people's lives at risk. How can you live with yourself?

Putting an extension in your pocket and walking out the door and exchanging one that you have already gotten is the same thing in my book. Stealing is stealing.

You should probably go back and read his post. He put is own extension back in his pocket after being told one is on the way in the mail and then he proceeded to take that same extension over to another Sears store and exchanged it for a replacement. Some time later on that week, he gets the other extension the first Sears store said they would mail him. Is that a little unethical? Sure it is. Is it out and out stealing? In my opinion, no.

Some of you guys go overboard on this honesty stuff.

Does the bible say though shall not roll through stop signs?

Can you be prosecuted and given jail time for going 5 miles over the speed limit?

These are not apples to apples my friend.

Dude, he freaking STOLE an extension plain and simple! He returned the same item at 2 different stores for the sole purpose of getting a FREE one!

I bet your one of those that think that swapping price tags isn't stealing? Or how about swapping item's in different box's or containers? Returning items that were not the ones you originally purchased?

As for going overboard, damn straight. It's absolutely unethical, unequivocally illegal, utterly immoral and worst of all...a sin. This is not J-walking but rather a crime...one which he's bragging about.

So are you saying you have no problem with being "a little" unethical or that you misspoke in the first case? :headscrat

On a serious note, for people who keep defending this kind of behavior and asserting that it isn't on par with stealing, the expression 'he doth protest too much' really comes to mind. :wtf:

Ive read his post, he got he replacement and then went to a whole other sears store to replacement, why didnt he just go to the same store to get it replaced? because he knew it was wrong and didnt want to get caught.

Not quite. He didn't get his first replacement from store 1 on that same day; he got it delivered to him a week or so later on in the mail. He did however, get his replacement from store 2 that same day. That's not the same as walking into a store and putting an extension in your pocket and walking out.

He might just do that. He might take the extension he got in the mail and hand it to the guy at the counter in store 1. He'll tell the guy at the counter that he's giving the extension back to Sears because these guys on the GJ forum are making him feel so guilty, he's contemplating suicide.
