Hi Guys,
I just bought a new blade to replace my dulling original Delta blade. I am about to change the original blade out, who do you guys trust to sharpen your miter saw blades? 4,800 RPM's of carbide spinning near my hands and face makes me leary of who is doing the work?

Just buy a new blade unless it is an expensive specialty blade. Unless you are true wood master or cabinet maker the blades at the big box stores are all you need.

I don't know if this is something you'd like but HF makes a circ saw blade sharpener. I picked one up a while back but haven't gotten to sharpening my 10" blade yet. I need to set it up and tweak it if it needs tweaking*

I found reviews on youtube and here. *On you tube there is a very thorough review where a guy unboxed and walked through setup. He also noted small fixes, like adding washers which served to stabilize a few wobblies on adjustment knobs. Once he did that, he demonstrated the unit on an old saw blade.

His video is what solidified it for me. I figured for the cost, use it once and it has paid for itself. I don't go through blades quickly, but I like the idea of instant sharpening availability should one of my blades get trashed during a project.

Here's the vids. They are a little long, but very thorough and clarifies a lot:

Our family owns a custom picture frame shop and the blades we use to cut moulding are sharpened through one of our suppliers but it's not cost effective to have our home saw blades sharpened. Just buy a new one. Sharpening saw blades is labor intensive.

I always go local with the sharpening projects I dont trust myself on or have the time to do myself. I have always gone with sharpening companies that sharpen for the local mills, have an actual storefront / shop and are willing to sharpen practically anything, big or small.

With that said, unless its a heavy blade with thick carbide, the kind of blade for cutting studs, I generally see the blades as consumables. I have a few Forrest blades, a few custom blades and a ton of old blades that get sharpened, but for the most part, all of my other blades are consumables. Hope that helps

For best life, I highly recommend Freud blades.

I also agree about the replace rather than sharpen. AFA the carbide bits coming off, that's why you wear the best safety glasses you can buy. I try to not stand in line with any blade or wheel.
