what are the best 12 pt. 1/2" drive impact sockets to buy? i like the Matco ADV's, and the short Mac's in the metal tray. I really want the Ingersoll Rand set but they dont have 12 pts. Any suggestions?

Metric or sae?

Really need 1/2" drive?

I only have 1 1/2" drive 12pt impact but about 10 3/8 drive.

The matco ADV are the economy import line, right? If you are ok with import, just go right to the source. grey pneumatic or sunex. No I did not say they make matcos new economy line.

sunex are nice sockets and I really just need a 19mm, 21mm, 22mm, 7/8, and either a 24mm or 15/16. There gonna be used for lug nuts and I would prefer 12 pt. I do like the ADV Matco's, I have a set of the short metric 3/8" and there great.

There is nothing wrong with using 12pts given that the fasteners are in good shape. A 12pt has the same contact area on a new fastener. 6 pt offers advantages when using rusted or damaged fasteners. Lug nuts shouldn't be either given that someone didn't damage them previously with the wrong tool

Grey sells all those sizes individually and they won't disappoint I also find the napa pro impact sockets very reasonable in price and quality they are same as grey in my opinion I have received some insane deals through my local napa on their impact sockets

Genius make a good value 12 point metric impact set, and Koken also make a nice set. If you work on Audi's, you may need a 19mm and 21mm bi hex for crank pulleys.

Is bi hex same as triple square, used in Mercedes etc.?

Bi hex or double hex is another way to describe a 12 point fastener or socket. Just to confuse things double hex is also used to describe the fasteners that are used as Toyota head bolts (look similar to triple square).

There is a couple 12 point 1/2 drive impact sockets I use a lot,a 12mm for Ford driveshaft bolts and 12 point 1/2 for the wheel bearing retaining bolts on Jeeps.
