I have a unique situation where I'm building a shop and need to decide if I want to go with a 30x40 vs 26x46 or some variation in between. I am limited to 1200 sq ft on the bottom floor. But I will add a Mezz between 12-14 ft deep(shop will have 18ft walls). I can only have one garage door facing the street. This is going to be a multi purpose building(man-cave/sports, occasional work on cars.) It needs to be able to allow a decent area for my son to play basketball. The Mezz would host monthly poker games(16-20 players.) It will occasionally house a car and/or maybe a sxs. I plan on getting a 4 post lift that hopefully can be moveable under the loft to allow bball play. I wrench on cars periodically(change brakes, oil, etc... and might do a kit car down the road with my boys. It will also have a small bathroom in the back right corner. The biggest concern I have is the mezzanine being in the way. Which is why I'm considering a longer building but it requires I go narrower. Is there any gotcha's that I might not be thinking about? I've walked in a 25 ft open space and it seems pretty wide(wouldn't want it any more narrow) and I don't plan on parking a ton of cars in it(if at all, other than to work on one.) I would put most of my tools at the back, but might put some on the side, but I don't have a lot. I've determined I'm also going to put a lean-to shed behind it to house my garden stuff including a riding mower(don't tell the city,
