I'm lost? Are you talking about contractors/installers that use 12v tools for their installs?

I'm not a pro but 99% of my wiring supplies and tools are in this Craftsman roll-a-round.

I do all of my own electrical work and harness building for my project cars so there is a lot of stuff in that cabinet.

I will take pics of my box at home and the bags and trunk I work out of. I dont work out of a full shop anymore so most of my tools are at home. Only doing remote starts, alarms, gps tracking, backup cams/sensors laptop mounts etc. Fleet stuff. But at home i actually have a bigger need for more tools. I.take on long term projects like complete wire harness on classics and electrical troubleshooting and repair.

Correct. Those 2 drawers pretty much let you remove any stereo either factory or after market from almost any vehicle.

I take it you do emergency vehicle upfitting. I been trying to get in a area municipality doing that. Right now im in fleet vehicle upfitting and new car dealership work. Future of the industry is in fleet and municipal vehicles. The retail and custom is dying and its a shame. I.still do my share of.retail referrals especially during remote start season. But even then its a hassle because they want to beat you up on price. I DONT budge. I always try to convey to them that price is THE LAST thing you want to base your decision on. I dont get them all but thats fine. I am a pro. I.use a pro product and only the best installation supplies. I will not compromise my integrity by cutting corners to meet a price point.

Coming from the emergency vehicle upfitting side, I feel especially ford with they're read for the road police packages, are stepping in on installers, pushing us more to cages and camera and data systems, and ultimately leaving us installers not doing a majority of lighting installs

Yea the OEM has been taking work from us for years. The dealer techs on here wil tell you its a good thing because aftermarket ***** and is full of hacks. I have hads some heated battles over remote starts and the problems they allegedly cause. Someone even said we are guilty until proven innocent. No. The burden of proof is on the accusing party. The oems have even managed to.take back up cams from us in the near future.

We did a remote start on a new Civic last year that the customer had had for 2-3 days. The day after we did the remote start the brake light fuse blew and the lights quit working. The customer took the car back to the dealer and they looked it over and sure enough blamed it on us. The customer brought it to us and we looked it over and our work was solid. Just to prove it to the customer we unhooked the brake wire from the remote start and the fuse was still blowing. The customer not wanting to go back to the dealer offered to pay us to find the problem because they had no faith in the dealer knowing what they were doing. Come to find out the dealer put a rear spoiler with built in brake light on the car and pinched the wires when they mounted it. Stuff like that makes us look real good to the customer when we fix a problem that the dealer caused and the dealer had already checked it out and blamed it on us. That happens alot.

I was part of the 12v world for 5 years until Circuit City closed its doors. Never thought I would miss it as much as I do. I work for a utility now and I've done tons of upgrades to my work truck, mostly b/c I miss that type of work so much. I will say, I can't even imagine putting a remote start in some of these newer cars. A mid 90s Civic on the other hand... 15 min install with my eyes closed

You would be surprised. Some new Chrysler vehicles are still a 15 minute install. And newer Mercedes just as quick and very easy. Some cars are a pain. As for Brownsfan doing it mobile that adds a bit of fun to it.

Oh it adds tons of fun.The same dealers that blame me call me to install a remote start for them. I had a similar situation as Palmer and I billed the dealer for diagnostics. I told the service manager I would if I found the issue and it was not related to the remote start. I do electrical diagnostics and repairs for a couple indy shops and body shops local to me. Yea some new Chryslers like the 13-14 Ram can be 20 min even without a t-harness. I have gained the respect of the dealer techs in a few of the dealers I service and now get a call if they think it may be the aftermarket product and we can figure it out. I will say its never been my fault install wise but defective product or firmware issue that causes the issue.
