Hello everyone,
I'm looking to add a cheap floor to a 12'x12' existing pole barn.
This is not for a client, it is for my personal use.
Concrete is not an option, because I have to have this done over the weekend.
The floor is going to need to last max 5 years, and will only be used as a storage shed.
I have an existing stack of around 40 redwood 2"x6" 8' that I would like to utilize to save some money as well.

I included this crude drawing-
This is sort of what I'm thinking of doing with tongue / groove OSB subfloor on top.
I'm not 100% sure about how to fill out the edges.
I feel like blocking the inner perimeter and extending the sub floor could be a mistake.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

You cant get concrete trucks on a saturday where you are? Concrete will be far superior to wood and in the end if the truck can get to the door easier than wood flooring.

No, not on short notice. There is a waiting list.

If you are only using it for storage throw some gravel down run a compactor over it and be done with it.
I don't want a gravel floor. I'm not storing lawn equipment, I'm storing personal belongings.

Put the Redwood down. Figuring 5.5" wide, it comes out to 18.3 feet. Stagger the 8ft and 4 ft to spread the joints. As far as details you asked about, try Youtube.

I don't see any problems with running the osb out to the bottom girts. You could add some spacers around the perimeter for support. Also you could use hangers and **** your 2x8 up to the perimeter girts.

Thank you for the reply.
I was hoping to make the floor easily removable for concrete in the future, but I believe it would be a better idea to replace the 2"x 6" perimeter with 2"x 8" pressure treated, then use the 2"x 6" boards as floor joists. There will be hangers on all of the 2"x 6" boards.
I don't really foresee an issue as the 2"x 6" boards will be 16" on center, and will only be spanning 6' each.
It will be a PITA to remove all those hangers in the future, but I won't have to deal with that for a few years at least.

Why bother with wood if you want to concrete it later? Just get on the saturday concrete list now.

You could always rent a big tow behind mixer and do it your self. You prob want 1 maybe 2 expansion joints and an apron anyway.

A 12 x 12 is not a pole barn, hell its not even a garage, its a shed.

It's a 12' x 36' horse barn. I'm only putting a floor in one end which was the existing tack shed.
It's a pole barn made of 6"x6" posts.
Pole barn is the correct description. I had to use it to relay the correct information.

Strange place to put your foot down weirdo.
