Saw a box end wrench in pawn shop, one end 7/16, the other 13/32. What is a 13/32 fastner used for?

I believe they are common on older equipment, I have sockets that are 19/32 21/32 and 25/32. I believe that 31/32 also exists

Got this from another forum:

"Since sometime in the early 1900s, the standard US sizes for hexagonal bolt heads and nuts have come in two flavors, SAE and Heavy. The SAE heads are 1 1/2 times the bolt shank diameter, the Heavy heads 1/8 inch larger.

A common example, for a bolt with a 3/8 inch diameter shank: An SAE standard head would be 1 1/2 x 3/8 inch = 9/16 inch. A Heavy standard head would be 9/16 inch + 1/8 inch.

Under both of these formulae, a bolt with a "odd sixteenths" shank diameter would have a "odd thirty-seconds" head.
For a bolt with a 5/16 inch shank, an SAE head would be 1 1/2 x 5/16 inch = 15/32 inch, and a Heavy head would be 15/32 + 1/8 inch = 19/32 inch.
For a bolt with a 7/16 inch shank, an SAE head would be 1 1/2 x 7/16 inch = 21/32 inch, and a Heavy head would be 21/32 inch + 1/8 inch = 25/32 inch."

13/32 Doesn't seem to fit a common head size in any obsolete system.
Tell us more about the wrench. That may help.

Assume it was forged. Who made it?

What shape was it?

What markings were on it?

Got my curiosity up. Sure would like more info.

I have 13/32 in several makers clothing...was told they were almost a metric equivalent...but they appear to be just a tad big for 10mm....

13/32 was use on the model A ford zenith carburator gas adjusting valve. 19/32 for the rod bolt nuts and 21/32 for later flat head v8 rod nuts.

Craftsman still offered 19/32 in 2010. That's the latest I have.
Must be a lot of Model 'A's still running around.

9/32" works great on 7mm, and 11/32" is the standard size for 8-32 machine screw nuts.
