Anyone purchase on of the US General 13 Drawer Roller Tool Chest from Harbor Freight? The price is good at $399 but wanted to see if anyone has some time under their belts with this tool chest. Is it holding up? Problems?

Thanks,
John

I've had mine for about a year. No problems at all. Drawers are a little shallow I'm finding, but box is a great buy.

hey, thanks for the feedback. I need to think about what tools/stuff I want to put into this box and make sure they fit and the box meets the need. I have a lot of pegboard so the shallow drawers may not be an issue.

Why pay $399? Download the coupon on another thread where it is $349.

I was going to buy one of these roller chests and side cabinets, but then I found a deal on a used S-O roller and top box on Craigs List. I would certainly look used first before pulling the trigger.

Seriously, go look at one in person, like I did (After looking at Kobalt, Husky and Craftsman the same day), and open and close the drawers and flex the sides. Very happy with mine. Just need the red service cart and side and top boxes.

I've had mine for a total of 4 days now and it is fantastic, especially for the price. I had a real small, Craftsman cabinet before this US General. The Craftsman was a real turd and this new cabinet is a huge improvement in every way. I even feel that the HF has much better quality and than current Craftsman boxes. Being that I'm just a hobbiest/car enthusiat I probably will never put this cabinet through the paces to give it a proper evaluation, I feel that this box will meet my needs for years to come. My Harbor Freight had an older box on their floor and when compared to my box it looks as if they may change the finish a bit. It seems smoother and less pink than the previous models. Hopefully, HF will keep the models so that I can buy the add-on units in the years to come.

I purchase this bottom roller cabinet and the top cabinet about 8 months ago and am totally satisfied with the cabinet. These are sturdy cabinets and well constructed. You would not be disappointed with the purchase.

It at least used to come in black. I had to order mine through their special order catalog in store. I ended up paying just under $400 IIC. I can't stand the red color, so the extra cost was definitely worth it to me.

I love mine, especially since i cleaned out all of the nasty sticky grease that came in the sliders from the factory with wd-40, then lubed them with some PB blaster garage door lube. (like a thick silicone based lubricant).

I've had mine a year or two and i'd say that it would last any homeowner a lifetime easy, and in a professional setting maybe 10-20 years. But it really depends on how it's treated. It's a great box, but not even a blind man would ever mistake it for a snapon.

I'd say it's perfect for any home set of tools, or someone starting out in a professional setting. My complaints are cheap drawer handle trim that doesn't stay in place, excessive side to side play in drawers, and no drawer locking mechanism (so they don't slide open if not on a level surface or while moving the box).
