Also, try searching "high temperature" wire - if the toaster's old enough it was probably asbestos insulation. Newer "high temp" is asbestos free, but still should be used in that application. There are also high temp crimps if your toaster had that type connections... Steve

I did a quick search and fabric covered lamp cord is readily available, but didn't find anything in 14 gauge. It may be out there, I just didn't see it. Another option is getting a piece of empty fabric sheath and sliding it over a regular 14 gauge cord, places that deal in wiring harnesses for vintage cars sell it. I found one source on eBay: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/USA-5-16-X-...-COVERED-WIRING-HARNESS-COVER-US/163265115989

Why not get some high temperature appliance cordage? The 105° rated wire?

I assume he wants the old style fabric stuff so it looks correct on a vintage toaster.

Correct Stuart. Even picked up a old NOS bakelite plug

Hi temp wire was not even on my radar. If I was to just call it quits, got plenty of SO cord and plugs on hand

You might want to check out Vintage Wire & Supply. They carry all sorts of cool stuff.

While you're at it, check out Sundial Wire. I've bought from both places and have been very happy with product quality and service.

I didn't see any 14 gauge wire on the vintage wire and supply website, but sundial does have it and they sell it by the foot in several different styles. http://www.sundialwire.com/14-gauge.aspx

Sundial has yet to respond to my email. They offer a 14/2 cordset. I literally asked them (is this 14/3 cord but you guys cut the ground flush) or is this 14/2 cord (since I don't 14/2 on the site).

...does it matter?

Anyways, this is what they say "Cordsets using 3-conductor wire are offered only with 3-prong plugs and those using 2-conductor wires are offered only with 2-prong plugs. "
