A friend of mine purchased a replacement belt tensioner assemble for his 14" Delta bandsaw clone. The part came assembled but we can't figure out how to get this part on the bandsaw. The tensioner slides into grooves on the upper bandsaw body, but to do that the spindle that holds the upper bandsaw wheel needs to come out. The spindle mount is held in by two pins. How do I get these pins out? The spindle itself appears to be pressed in and held by a pin. But that pin is inaccessible while the mount is in the tensioner. Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

Are you sure there are "two" pins? It would make sense to me that it is one long pin which you could press out from one side or the other.

I haven't tried to drive the pin(s) out yet but it does not look like it is a single pin. The spindle hole goes through the mount.

Normally there really is only one pin that goes all the way through. I don't think the tensioning rod and spring etc interfere but I would remove all that and use an arbor press and a smaller driver rod to press it out. If you don't have a press maybe a brass ouch and hammer would to the job.

It has to be one pin because the wheel axle has a groove you can't see inside the housing that the pin slides into and holds the axle in and that locates it in the center of a pin.

I think all you have to do is take the upper rear wheel guard off and it will slide right on but I haven't worked on the clones.
