So, besides the import jacks that use the 15/16" job (thanks for that thread, by the way!!), what else would I commonly find 15/16" nuts/bolts in?

If I had to pick a handful of sizes to work on farm equipment, 15/16 would be one of the first ones I'd pull, along with 3/4 and 9/16.

Heavy diesel trucks/buses use them all the time for bumper mounts, tie rod clamps, engine mounts, etc.

Scattered all over heavy equipment, along with 1 1/8 and 3/4. My impact socket set came with a 24mm instead of a 15/16, and I didn't notice until the tool man left and never came back. :(

15/16" and 3/4" are about the most common sizes found on commercial trucks.I've worn out two Snappy 15/16" impact sockets in the last ten years and am about halfway through the third.

My very first Proto tool I ever bought was a 15/16" shallow impact socket, along with a 6" pin lock impact extension. :)

Many Ford balancer bolts, some pinion nuts, My 15/16 shows some wear. The most useless sockets I have are 4mm, 9mm,15/32,31/32

I would have just assumed they would all be metric.....

I guess not all vehicle manufacturers have switched huh?

They've made the switch alright - it's just that some suspension parts are maintaining their SAE fasteners. It keeps things interesting. :D

The other part of the equation is that most trucks are sold as a cab and chassis and whatever type of box/body is mounted on them usually uses standard bolts. Most of the body builders have not switched to metric. All of our line bodies and booms are built in the US with standard fasteners.

Very true. I am starting to run into metric hydraulic fittings. They have the same threads as be for, but with a larger metric hex.:headscrat Yeah, it works out great in really tight spots...........

I've said several times before, Freightshakers are mostly SAE and mostly 5/8" hardware on the chassis so I use 15/16" quite a bit on those.

Here's a pic of one of my old 15/16" Snappy impact sockets next to one that's about a year old.You could say it's a common size for me to use.

As other have said --- tons of 5/8" bolts on the stuff I work on. Mostly truck mounted machinery all made in USA and still using all standard hardware....We are seeing more metrics in compnents being sourced from across the pond, though.

Wow, when I worked on pickups I used the heck out of my 15/16 on the u-bolts, Doing Lift Kits had me buying an extra deep for the really long threaded u-bolts we didn't want to cut. If I recall I broke an SK Deep breaking some rusty bolts before we learned to pay the spring guy for new u-bolts and use the smoke wrench. I would never not have at least one 15/16 deep well in my box.
