So what does Snap On say about warranty replacement on those worn out sockets? Normal wear and tear not covered?

TheGrooveking

I never tried to warranty the old ones, they're worn out not broken.I just turned them in to my boss and he bought me two new Snappy's to replace them with.Broken and worn out tools are replaced by the company as per our contract. He gave me back the old ones in case I wanted to try for warranty but I never bothered.

wow.... how long did they last ? How could you work with a almost round socket ?

I used those two worn ones for probably close to 15yrs.As bad as they look they still work and don't strip the bolt heads. They are really sloppy to use but don't jump.

What's really interesting to me is if you look at the wear on the drive end it really shows how much Snap on's quality has been dropping in the last few years. The new socket(1 yr old) has way more wear on the drive end than the old ones that have been beat to death for 15yrs.

I'm not sure what the rule book says but Ive never had a problem getting a worn out socket replaced. I wore out a bunch of them. I think if you used a socket for a punch and beat it to a pulp with a hammer they may not replace it.
Funniest thing I ever saw was a guy cut a set of craftsman wrenches in two parts. He took them back to sears and they replaced them. Back then the sears warranty was "Satisfation or your money back" I guess he wasn't satified he could cut them in half with a hack saw.

Realized I hadn't mentioned it - thanks for all the input, folks! Great information! Keep it coming, if there's any more.

Lawn Boy mower blades, briggs & stratton flywheel nuts, When I pulled the seat off of my 856 International Harvestor there were some 15/16th nuts/bolts I had to remove(was real glad I had stubby wrenches up to 1" that day)

GM 3800s have the retaining bolt holding the harmonic balancer on that is a 15/16".The Snap On dealer my father kicked out 12 years ago told him that anything worn out is not covered under warranty. My father handed him a worn out impact swival and dealer would not warranty it.

A lot of Hydraulic lines and bolts on heavy duty trucks and equipment are 15/16s, prob one of my most used wrenches overall.
