I'm hoping to be framing the opening for my 16' garage door tomorrow and
have a question about how many 2x4 jack posts will be needed on each side to support it. The header is going to double 2x12 with 1/2" ply glued and nailed in the middle.
I'm thinking 4 on each side would be sufficient. I am going to put a call into the inspector in the morning but he may not get back to me before i get to that point in the framing.
Anybody have any clues on the minimum amount?
Thanks

If the roof slope is towards the header you may be required to have more jack studs, if the slope is to the left and right of the header, then the only weight you will have on the header is the header itself. Still doesn't sound like I explained it correctly
